Atletico Madrid have played no pre-season friendlies so far

Atletico, meanwhile, play their first warm-up game and look to have done some excellent summer business so far by bringing in Thomas Lemar, Gelson Martins and Rodri. Having finished 2nd behind Barcelona in La Liga last season, they will hope to improve this season. Anyway, if club star Antoine Griezmann leaves for Barcelona, or elsewhere, and isn’t somehow replaced, Atletico will be unlikely to challenge for the La Liga title or in any other competition. These two teams met in last season's Europa League semi-finals, with Atletico winning 2-1 on aggregate en route to lifting the trophy, drawing 1-1 at the Emirates Stadium before a 1-0 home victory.

It will be very much a second string Atletico side. Diego Simeone is without nine members of his Atletico first-team, including Saul Niguez, Jose Gimenez, Diego Costa, Koke, Antoine Griezmann, Diego Godin and Sime Vrsaljko. Furthermore, Thomas Lemar is also likely to be rested despite his lack of game time in France's World Cup triumph. With Stefan Savic not on tour, they lack a natural left-back and no senior-centre back. The starting XI is therefore more of an opportunity for the youngsters – who comprise the majority of the group – than first-team members.

Arsenal have an almost complete squad

Arsenal will look to forge a new identity under new manager Unai Emery.  Having brought exciting names with some shrewd business, the former PSG manager looks to have started on the right foot. They have already played two friendlies so far, recording two resounding victories over Boreham Wood (8-0) and Crawley Town (9-0). We feel the Gunners go into this tournament in good shape, with a strong and well-rested squad eager to impress the incoming regime.

The Gunners are travelling with an almost full strength squad. Lucas Torreira and Danny Welbeck are the only members of the Arsenal squad still to return after this summer World Cup. Three of the club’s five new signings in Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Matteo Guendouzi and Bernd Leno have made the trip to Singapore and are expected to play at some stage. Up front, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is likely to lead the line, supported by Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mhkitaryan. The likes of Aaron Ramsey and Mohamed Elneny will anchor the midfield.
