Arsenal v Chelsea betting preview

Arsenal have endured a terrible run of two wins from their last five league matches

Arsenal sit six points behind the Premier League top 4 after a 1-0 loss at West Ham last time out. Their dip in results has largely been due to some indifferent performances away from home as the Gunners haven't lost at home in the league since the opening day of the season. Their overall record at Emirates so far comprises of 8 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat, scoring 24 goals and conceding 10. Unai Emery's men are shaky at the back. They have only kept one clean sheet in the last 8 outings, conceding 14 times as only League One Blackpool were kept at bay. The reverse match saw the Gunners suffering a 3-2 defeat at Stamford Bridge last August.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is expected to return to full training next week and will miss this one. Mesut Ozil has not made the squad since the Gunners' Boxing Day trip to Brighton and we don't expect the German to start. As a result, Alex Iwobi and Alexandre Lacazette should partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang upfront, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles providing a further option. Lucas Torreira hasn't started a competitive game for Arsenal in 2019 but will be pushing hard for a recall in central midfield either at the expense of Granit Xhaka or Matteo Guendouzi. The likes of Hector Bellerin and Sead Kolasinac will start as wing backs in a 3-4-3 system. Danny Welbeck, Rob Holding, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Konstantinos Mavropanos are all out through injury.

Chelsea have won 2-1 against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge last weekend, meaning they have taken 10 points from their last four games in the league. They come into the weekend 6 points better off than Arsenal and just 1 point behind Spurs who are in action away at Fulham on Sunday. Anyway, the Blues have suffered a dip in form and haven't won a match by more than a one-goal margin since beating Manchester City 2-0 over a month ago. They have scored only 8 goals in the last 8 matches, altough facing relegation-threatened teams such as Southampton, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, and second-tier outfit Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup.

Andreas Christensen and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are the only two absentees for the visitors while Danny Drinkwater e Alvaro Morata are major doubts (the striker is rumoured to join Atletico Madrid next week). Ross Barkley and Mateo Kovacic are in competition to partner Jorginho and N'Golo Kante in the middle of the park. Up front, Eden Hazars is expected to play as false nine once again, flanked by Pedro and Willian. No changes are expected in defense, with the likes of Marcos Alonso, David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta forming Maurizio Sarri's back four.
