ROMA vs LAZIO BETTING PREVIEW
After the narrow home defeat against Napoli and a 3-3 draw against Chelsea in London, Roma have won four matches in a row - 1:0 over Crotone and Bologna in Serie A, 3:0 over Chelsea in Champions League and 2:4 at Fiorentina last time out. The Giallorossi sit 5th in the league standings, in touching distance with third-placed Inter Milan having a game in hand. Eusebio Di Francesco's men are also in pole-position to qualify for the knockout stage in Champions League. Roma’s four-match winning streak in head-to-head encounters came to an end during 2017 as the Giallorossi suffered two defeats out of three matches, being knocked out of the Coppa Italia by their bitter rivals.Radja Nainggolan is a major doubt, having suffered a muscle injury on international duty. Should the Belgian miss out, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Maxime Gonalons are in contention to join Daniele De Rossi and Kevin Strootman in midfield. Up front, Stephan El Shaarawy is favourite over Gregoire Defrel to feature from the off, alongside Edin Dzeko and Diego Perotti. The likes of Bruno Peres and Patrik Schick will sit on the bench at maximum, as they are recovering from their respective injury. Rick Karsdorp is out for the next 6-8 months because of a knee ligament injury.
Lazio enter this clash on the back of 68 consecutive wins, 6 in Serie A and 2 in Europa League, a run that include an away win against Juventus (1-2), hammerings of Cagliari (3-0) and Benevento (1-5), and two victories against Nice in Europa LEague. The Biancocelesti have scored at least two goals in 7 of those 8 matches. As a result, they have climbed in 4th position in the league stadings with one game in hand. Only once this season have Lazio failed to score, on the opening day against Spal. In Europa League, they have already secured a place in the konock-out stages as Simone Inzaghi's men have won all the 4 group fixtures so far. Lazio have beaten their city rivals 1-3 in Serie A as well as 3-4 in Coppa Italia on aggregate earlier this year.
Thomas Strakosha is fully fit and will start between the posts. Bastos, Stefan De Vrij and Stefan Radu will defend his goal in a 3-4-2-1 starting system. In midfield, Adam Marusic and Senad Lulic will play out wide, with Lucas Leiva and Marco Parolo in the middle of the park. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto are expected to support Ciro Immobile upfront, with the Italian striker likely to overcome a minor injury. Other forwards such as Felipe Anderson and Felipe Caicedo are both sidelined.
