Real Madrid sealed their place in the last 16 after thrashing APOEL Nicosia 6-0 in Cyprus last time out but they will finish as runners up to Tottenham, having lost 3-1 at Wembley Stadium last month. They are unbeaten in the last 6 games, dropping points only away at Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao (both matches finished 0-0). The Blancos sit third in La Liga standings, 6 points shy of Barcelona and one point behind Valencia. The reverse fixture in Dortmund ended 3-1 to Zinedine Zidane’s side.

Manager Zinedine Zidane will most likely use this contest to give some players on the fringes of the first team a chance to impress. Gareth Bale sat out on Saturday after returning in the Copa and is expected to feature from the off. His offensive partners might be Lucas Vazquez and Borja Mayoral, with Marco Asensio as main alternative. In defense, with Dani Carvajal banned, the likes of Achraf Hakimi, Nacho, Sergio Ramos and Theo Hernandez are expected to form the four man backline. Dani Ceballos, Casemiro and Isco should start in midfield, altough Mateo Kovacic is pushing for a start.



Borussia Dortmund are in very poor form. They have failed to win any of their last 4 matches, including a 4-4 draw in the derby with Schalke 04 after the men in yellow led 4-0 at the half-time whistle. They have not won a competitive game since 24th October and their win-less streak stand at 7 games. The only win in their last 10 matches came against Magdeburg in the DFB-Pokal on October 24. The German outfit are yet to win a game in Champions League this season and must hope that an under-strength Tottenham side can do them a favour by beating APOEL, which would likely be enough for BVB to finish 3rd, regardless of their result at the Bernabeu.

Peter Bosz will likely make a raft of changes as Maximilian Philipp and Gonzalo Castro both sustained injuries at the weekend and joined Erik Durm, Sebastian Rode, Lukasz Piszczek, Marko Reus and Mario Gotze on the sidelines. Furthermore, Jeremy Toljan is suspended meaning that Raphael Guerreiro will be required to play as left back. Up fron, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is expected to spearhead the attack, flanked by Christian Pulisic and Andriy Yarmolenko. In midfield, Julian Weigl, Shinji Kagawa and Mahmoud Dahoud are likely to feature from the off.
