PSG v Liverpool betting preview
PSG have been perfect in Ligue 1 but struggled in Champions LeagueAfter the opening fourteen league matches, PSG enjoy a perfect record of fourteen wins and they have opened up a massive fifteen-point gap between themselves and the rest of the chasing pack. As to the Champions League, Les Parisiens were recently held to draws in both of their last two matches against Napoli. This means they only won against Red Star Belgrade, after losing their opening match at Liverpool (3-2). With just five points to their name after five Group C matches, Thomas Tuchel face early elimination should they lose and Napoli beat Red Star Belgrade in the other game.
Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are huge doubts for Wednesday's must-win fixture. Both missed the weekend win over Toulouse due to injuries sustained during the international break. Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler are on stand-by should they miss. Dani Alves made his first appearance of the season last Saturday while Layvin Kurzawa also made the matchday squad. Anyway, Thomas Tuchel has opted for a back three in recent matches and the likes of Juan Bernat and Thomas Meunier are likely to start as full backs. In midfield, Adrien Rabiot is expected to partner Marco Verratti.
Liverpool extended their unbeaten run to thirteen matches on SaturdayLiverpool enter this clash on the back of an impressive 3-0 win away at Watford last weekend. They remain unbeaten in the Premier League and sit just two points adrift of leaders Manchester City. The Reds slumped to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Champions League group stage debutants Red Star Belgrade on matchday four. They will advance to the next round of the competition if they beat Paris Saint-Germain and Red Star do not beat Napoli. Anyway, Jurgen Klopp's men have now lost their last three European away games and have won only five of their last 21.
Sadio Mane should recover in time to start the match while Joe Gomez reamins a major doubt having missed last weekend's game. Jordan Henderson could be joined in midfield by James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum should Klopp revert to a 4-3-3 formation. Naby Keita and Fabinho provide further options in the middle of the park, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana are long-term absentees. Up front, Xherdan Shaqiri will be probably benched despite his recent impressive performances.
