A win for the Young Lions here would guarantee their place in the quarter finals of the competition for the first time since 2017, with a game to spare.

Israel, meanwhile, held on for a 1-1 draw against reigning champions Germany in their group opener on Thursday. A good result, considering they played the entirety of the second half with 10 men, with their goalkeeper Daniel Peretz also saving two penalties in the match. They are on a five-game winless streak and have drawn the last three. Prior to that, Guy Luzon’s side ended the qualifiers as a 2nd placed team with 19 points and advanced to the final tournament through playoffs as they beat Republic of Ireland 2-1 on penalties.

Sunday's game will mark the third meeting between the two nations in the last 12 years. Anyway, the most most recent matchup between these two sides came in the group stages of the 2013 U21 Euros which Israel won 1-0.
