England U21 vs Germany U21 Betting Preview
England beat the Netherlands 2-1 in Bratislava on Wednesday to secure their spot in Saturday's showpiece. Harvey Elliott, arguably the best midfielder in this year's competition, scored both goals. Lee Carsley's men only won one of their three group games, beating the Czech Republic 3-1 in their opener before recording a goalless draw by Slovenia and a defeat at the hands Germany in their final group game. They seem to have found their feet at just the right time, winning 3-1 against Spain in impressive fashion in the quarter finals.
Germany U21 won all three games in the Group stage, beating Slovenia 3-0 in the opening day, and following with a 4-2 win over Czech Republic and a 2-1 victory over the defending champions England. Then, they needed extra-time to beat Italy 3-2, with the Azzurri playing with nine men since the final minutes of regular time. Then Antonio Di Salvo's men made light work of their semi final match against France, going 2-0 up after few minutes before ending with a 3-0 victory. They have scored 15 goals from their five matches in this U21 Euros and conceded five times after going through the qualifying campaign unbeaten with eight wins and two draws from their 10 games.
As already mentioned, this will be the second time that England and Germany play against each other in Slovakia after the Young Lions lost 2-1 to Germany in their Group B encounter on 18 June. Anyway, England have won two of their last three meetings against Germany.
Best Odds
The bookies can't split these two sides! Both England U21 and Germany Under 21 are priced 13/8 to win (around 2.62 with non-UK bookmakers). The draw is backable at 27/10 (or 3.70 in decimal odds).
Probable Line-Ups
England U21 (4-2-3-1): Beadle; Livramento, Quansah, Cresswell, Hinshelwood; Scott, Anderson; Elliott, McAtee, Hutchinson; Stansfield
A poorly executed celebration after his winner against the Netherlands has left Harvey Elliott with some knee discomfort but the Liverpool midfielder ix expected to recover in time. Except that, Lee Carsley has no fresh injury issues to deal with ahead of the final. He should confirm most of the players who started last time out, with only Omari Hutchinson's berth at risk as Ethan Nwaneri and Louie Rowe are pushing for a start. Toulouse's Charlie Cresswell and Bayer Leverkusen-bound Jarell Quansah will have the task to keep the tournament's top scorer Nick Woltemade quiet, with Tino Livaramento and Jack Hinshelwood starting as full backs.
Germany U21 (4-4-2): Atubolu; Collins, Oermann, Arrey-Mbi, Brown; Knauff, Reitz, Martel, Nebel; Woltemade, Weiper
Germany are without centre-back Max Rosenfelder. The centre-back, who picked up a muscle injury in the semi-finals, will be replaced by Sturm Graz's Tim Oermann. Eintracht Frankfurt duo Nnamdi Collins and Nathaniel Brown is likely to continue as full-backs. Antonio Di Salvo is expected to stick with a 4-4-2 formation, with Eric Martel and Rocco Reitz linking arms in centre-midfield. Ansgar Knauff and Nelson Weiper will hope to retain their place having both scored against England in the group-stage match.
Our England U21 vs Germany U21 Predictions
England have adapted well as the tournament has gone on, beating tournament favourites Spain and a brilliant Netherlands side in the knockout stage.
Germany U21 have won all seven of their matches they've played since the turn of the year in all competitions, and are unbeaten in their last 20 matches in all competitions.
This is a very evenly matched game, but we believe Die Mannschaft will not lost it and we go for Germany to win or draw (Double Chance).
With two talented attacking forces in action, we also expect both teams to score. As to the possible scoreline, 3-2 Germany is our pick in the Correct Score market.
Nick Woltemade has scored six goals in four games at this summer's U21 Euros, bagging in each game including a hat trick against Slovenia and recording three assists. A bet on Woltemade to score or assist is worth a try.
As for England, Harvey Elliott is the in-form man and we back him to have 2+ shots on target..
