MONACO v DORTMUND BETTING PREVIEW
Monaco triumphed 3-2 in the first leg in Dortmund last week. The French outfit only had two shots on target, but scored with both of them, adding to the own goal that Dortmund’s Sven Bender netted. They are unbeaten in their last eight home Champions League games and were beaten only once in all competitions at Stade Louis with a record 23 wins, 2 draws from 26 matches. In the previous round when they had to come from behind to knock out Manchester City, winning the second leg at home 3-1 on the night to progress on away goals (6-6 aggregate). Domestically, Les Rouges et Blancs are currently sitting pretty at the top of the French Ligue 1.
Right-back Djibril Sidibe sat out last week's 1st leg and is still sidelined, and midfielder Fabinho is suspended. Joao Moutinho will replace Fabinho in midfield while Andrea Raggi and Alamany Toure are competing for the right-back starting berth. Kylian Mbappe and Radamel Falcao will lead the line, with Thomas Lemar and Bernardo Silva providing support from the flanks as usual. High-rated Tiemouè Bakayoko and Joao Moutinho will start in the middle of the park.
The first leg was delayed by 24 hours after explosions in the vicinity of the Dortmund team bus and the team was clearly still shocked when they played Monaco the day after. The German outfit have struggled to play their best football away from home this season. Although they lost away from home in the previous round, 1-0 at Benfica they won at Legia (6-0) and Sporting (2-1) in addition to sharing four goals with Real in Madrid in the group stage. Domestically, BVB currently sit in fourth place in the Bundesliga table, eight points even behind second-placed RB Leipzig.
Marco Reus is fit again and likely to start in the offensive midfield quartet alongside Christian Pulisic, Gonzalo Castro and Ousmane Dembelè. Of course, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will spearhead the attack and Julian Weigl will play as defensive midfielder. Marc Batra is out after being injured in the bomb attack that saw the first leg postponed last week. The Spaniard has joined Mario Gotze and Andrè Schurrle on the sidelines.
