ARSENAL vs MANCHESTER CITY BETTING PREVIEW
Arsenal beat London rivals Chelsea last month to reach their first League Cup final. Anyway, the Gunners enter this match on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to the Swedish minnows Ostersund in Europa League as Arsene Wenger has rested his main stars. They have been dreadful away from home this season. Apart from the trip to Ostersunds in Europa League, Wenger's men have not won in their last six games away from Emirates Stadium. In the last three away matches in Premier League, Arsenal have lost 1-0 to Tottenham, 3-1 to Swansea and 2-1 at Bournemouth. Plus, they were beaten 4-2 by Nottingham Forest in FA Cup in early January.
Arsene Wenger is hopeful that Aaron Ramsey will be fit enough to feature. The Welshman should play alongside Jack Wilshere and Grait Xhaka in the middle of the park, with Mohamed Elneny as viable alternative. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is cup-tied for the Gunners, opening up a spot in the XI for Alex Iwobi in the front trio, where Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang should retain their starting berth, given that Alexandre Lacazette is out through injury. In defense, Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi should be flanked by Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal. In goal, David Ospina is likely to replace Petr Cech.
Manchester City will be aiming to avoid two trophy disappointments in the space of six days after Monday's shock FA Cup defeats at the hands of Wigan at The DW Stadium (1-0). Anyway, they have comfortably been the strongest team in England this season and lead the Premier League table by a huge 16 points. The Citizens have lost just one of their last five meetings with Arsenal in all competitions (W2 D2), beating them 3-1 in their previous meeting in the Premier League this season. Anyway, the last time the two teams met at Wembley was in the semifinal of the 2017 FA Cup, which Arsenal won 2-1 on their way to lifting the trophy.
Pep Guardiola has confirmed Claudio Bravo will start in goal, with first choice goalkeeper Ederson making the bench. Fabian Delph is suspended, meaning that Danilo and Oleksandr Zinchenko are in contention for the left-back spot. Nicolas Otamedi and John Stones are expected to start at the heart of the back, with Aymeric Laporte and Vincent Kompany providing further options. In midfield, David Silva should get the nod over Ilkay Gundogan, and join Fernandinho and Kevin De Bruyne. Up front, Raheem Sterling is not 100% fit as well as Gabriel Jesus, who has resumed training and could sit on the bench. Leroy Sanè and Sergio Aguero look sure starters in attack, with Bernando Silva the main alternative.
