Liverpool vs Cardiff City betting preview
Liverpool seemed to rediscover their goalscoring touch in midweekLiverpool come into the match fresh from a 4-0 UEFA Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday. Prior to that, the Reds narrowly beat Huddersfield (0-1 on the road) last weekend. They are joint top at the top of the table with 23 points from the opening nine fixtures. Mo Salah has scored three goals in the last two outings and he is rapidly returning to form. Jurgen Klopp's men have been near-flawless at Anfield, with Manchester City the only team to deny the Merseyside team. Plus, The Reds have kept nine consecutive home clean sheets in the Premier League.
Sadio Mane is expected to return to the starting line-up for this clash, joining Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah up front. Xherdan Shaqiri will expect to keep his place in the starting lineup having contributed two assists over the past week. The Swiss international should play in a more central position behing the front trio. He will join James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum in the middle of the park as Naby Keita remains a doubt after missing Wednesday's match and Jordan Henderson is sidelined.
Cardiff have just climbed off the bottom of the table and out of the relegation zoneCardiff City enjoyed their first victory of the season last weekend, a thrilling 4-2 success over Fulham. The victory pulled the Bluebirds out of the relegation zone for the time being, based on goal differential with Fulham. They also battled really hard away to Tottenham recently and only lost the game by a single goal margin. Defense remain a concern as the Bluebirds have conceded 19 goals in nine Premier League outings and has not kept a clean sheet since August.
Neil Warnock is unlikely to make many alterations to a winning side, although Junior Hoilett is pushing for a start after an impressive performance last time out. Joe Ralls continues to serve a suspension while Aron Gunnarsson is finally back from injury and should feature from the off in a four man midfield alongside Harry Arter, Josh Murphy and Victor Camarasa. Up front, Bobby Reid will support the lone striker Callum Paterson. The likes of Lee Peltier and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing are injured while Danny Ward will face a late fitness test.
