WORLD CUP 2014 GROUP H BETTING PREVIEW
BELGIUM are one of the emerging nations in world football. They qualified in emphatic style, registering a national record seven successive qualifying wins during an unbeaten campaign – winning eight and drawing two. An injury to star striker Christian Benteke dampened the hype, but Romelu Lukaku should be able to shoulder the load upfront in his absence. Belgium's star player is Eden Hazard but also Mirallas, Mertens, Fellaini, Chadli, Kompany and Vermaelen. We think that belgium will be the biggest surprise in Brazil!
RUSSIA was a surprise winner of their European qualifying group, which included Portugal. Under head coach Fabio Capello, the Russian team had a strong defense to go that conceded only five goals throughout qualifying. Aleksander Kerzhakov was the top scorer for the squad in qualifying and Alan Dzagoev is a solid attacking midfielder. They have already beaten South Korea in a friendly and after playing to a draw against Brazil and Serbia they have won their last two.
SOUTH KOREA has advanced out of its group in two of its last three World Cup appearances and will try to do the same again here in 2014. However qualification was anything but smooth as they edged-out Uzbekistan on goal difference to claim the second qualification spot in Asian Group A, ending two points behind Iran. With 10 defeats and just seven wins to their name over the last 22 fixtures, Hong-Myung Bo’s side are no longer the team that reached the semi-finals in 2002. Don't forget that South Kore have recently lost to Ghana 4-0!
ALGERIA comes into the World Cup as the last African team to be qualified, beating Burkina Faso 1-0 in the second leg of their play-off to advance on away goals after a 3-2 first-leg defeat. Managed by Bosnian, Vahid Halilhodzic, there is plenty of young talent on the roster but the Fennec Foxes don’t have the offense to match against their group mates nor a defense that is formidable enough to hold down opposing attackers. They aren’t expected to qualify from the group stage.
