How to watch Croatia v Morocco
Croatia vs Morocco kicks off at 15:00 GMT on Saturday, December 17.
The battle for the bronze medal will take place at Khalifa International Stadium in Al Rayyan.
Croatia vs Morocco Betting Preview
Croatia suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat in their semifinal clash against Argentina, concedingas many goals as they had in their previous five games at the 2022 World Cup combined. Despite a generous penalty given to their opponents, the Blazers were outplayed by the Albiceleste, showing signs of fatigue after hard-fought battle in previous rounds. In fact, Croatia knocked out Japan and Brazil on penalties, respectively in the last-16 and last-8 rounds.
Morocco booked their spot in the semi-finals for the first time in their history by beating Portugal 1-0 in the quarter finals but fell in the semifinals against France, losing 2-0 against Les Blues. Walid Regragui's men conceded the first two goals of the tournament to opponents, as their only conceded goal was an own-goal against Canada. Prior to that, they beat both Spain and Portugal, ending Ronaldo's World Cup progression in the latter case.
This will be the third direct encounter between Croatia and Morocco, and only weeks after their earlier meeting in the World Cup group stages that finished 0-0. That day, the Blazers were restricted to five shots, their fewest ever in a World Cup match. The previous meeting was in 1996, when Croatia won 7-6 on penalties in the Hassan II Trophy.
UK's top betting sites are trending toward a Croatian victory. The Europeans are slighlty favorites at 29/20 with Unibet. The draw is available at 5/2 with VBet while a Morocco win is backable at 21/10 with SpreadEx.
Croatia (4-3-3): Livakovic; Juranovic, Lovren, Sutalo, Sosa; Modric, Jakic, Kovacic; Vlasic, Kramaric, Perisic
Marcelo Brozovic was forced off due to injury during the match with Argentina and will miss out here. Highly rated centre-back Josko Guardiol was not at full health for that fixture and may be given a breather to avoid furthere damages.Nikola Vlasic is expected to replace Mario Pasalic up front.
Morocco (4-3-3): Bounou; Hakimi, El-Yamiq, Dari, Attiyat Allah; Ounahi, Amrabat, Amallah; Ziyech, En-Nesyri, Boufal
Centre back Nayef Aguerd suffered a pre-match injury, while there are also fitness concerns for Romain Saiss and Noussair Mazraoui as they both could not complete the game with France. They are all expected to be sidelined. Back-up forward Walid Cheddira will be available after serving a one-match suspension but the front trio formed by Hakim Zyech, Sofiane Boufal and Yussef EN-Nesyri will probably remain unchanged.
Croatia v Morocco Predictions
Morocco are injury-plagued at the back and looked a bit fatigued last time out. Croatia will have had an extra day to recover from their semi-final by the time this match kicks-off.
The match really could go either way but we believe Morocco's extra motivations to achieve a historical result will make the difference.
