ROMA v INTER MILAN BETTING PREVIEW
Roma faced a difficult away task at Atlanta in their Serie A opener last weekend, securing a narrow 1-0 victory courtesy of a Alexander Kolarov's smart free kick. The Giallorossi only lost twice at home in the league last season but their opponents should have an edge with Roma's former manager Luciano Spalletti on board. Anyway, in the last 5 direct encounters played at the Olimpico, the Giallorossi have never lost - winning 3 and drawing 2 of those matches. All but one of the last six encounters between Roma and Inter have seen both teams score.
Coach Eusebio Di Francesco is dealing with an emergency at right back as Alessandro Florenzi, Emerson Palmieri, Rick Karsdorp and Bruno Peres are all out through injury. As a result, Kostas Manolas is expected to start as right back, with Kolarov on the other flank, Juan Jesus and Federico Fazio forming the centre-back pair. No changes are expected in midfield and attack: Daniele De Rossi, Kevin Strootman and Radja Nainggolan are likely to start in the middle of the park while the likes of Diego Perotti, Edin Dzeko and Gregoire Defrel should lead the line.
Inter Milan also have a 100% record following their opening weekend success over Fiorentina, a match decided by a Mauro Icardi's early brace and a goal scored by Ivan Perisic. Despite Sunday's impressive scoreline, Inter showed the same tendency to lose concentration that dogged them last season. Since the first league match, the Nerazzurri have moved Geoffrey Kondogbia to Valencia and picked up Joao Cancelo in return to help bolster the defense.
Cancelo is expected to be benched while Henrique Dalbert could be handed a debut, replacing Yuto Nagatomo as left back. Roberto Gagliardini and Matias Vecino are likely to start in midfield while Borja Valero should play as 'number ten' behind the lone striker Mauro Icardi. The Portuguese Joao Mario is a further option in that position, but Borja Valero will sure make the starting XI. The likes of Antonio Candreva and Ivan Perisic are expected to retain their starting berth as offensive wingers, as well as Joao Miranda, Milan Skriniar and Danilo D'Ambrosio in defense.
