RYANAIR CHASE BETTING PREVIEWThe Ryanair Chase was introduced at the Festival in 2005, and has become the "easier option" for some high class horses to take rather than tackle the Gold Cup. It's a Grade 1 National Hunt chase run over two miles and five furlongs, for horses aged five years and upwards, with 17 fences to be jumped. The race boasts an impressive prize purse of £350,000 and has produced some impressive winners in recent years.
Who will win the Ryanair Chase 2021?We'll take a closer look at this year's Ryanair Chase and try to determine which horse is likely to prevail in this year's renewal.
ALLAHO is the current favourite for the Ryanair Chase, having finished third in last year’s RSA Chase. He was last seen winning a Grade 2 at Thurles in January and was previously fourth in a strong field for the Savills Chase at Leopardstown in December.
Willie Mullins' MIN has only won 3 of his 22 races under Rules, but he has always reserved some of his best efforts for Cheltenham and ran a blinder from the front in the Savills Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas. He put in a very uncharacteristic lack lustre performance against stable mate Chacun Pour Soi in the Dublin Chase where he didn’t jump that fluently and was eventually pulled up by Patrick Mullins following his second and worse error.
IMPERIAL AURA won the now defunct Novices Handicap Chase at last year’s Cheltenham Festival over this distance and appears to have improved further this season winning two big contests at Carlisle and Ascot. He unseated early on in his prep race at Kempton.
FAKIR D'OUDARIES ran well at the Dublin Racing Festival and may find the intermediate trip very much to his liking. He also ran well at the last two Festivals finishing 4th in the Supreme and runner up to Put The Kettle On in the Arkle Chase in 2020.
Willie Mullins also saddles MELON, a horse that boasts a remarkable record at The Festival having finished second at the last four editions. He has been beaten by Kemboy, A Plus Tard and Min this season alone.
Dark horses?SAINT CALVADOS, who finished 2nd last year, has been campaigned over 3 miles this term. He looked he can't stay when weakening close home to finish fourth in the King George Chase at Kempton and unseating his rider when the pace stepped up in the Cotswolds Chase at Sandown.
Nicky Henderson's MISTER FISHER was last seen winning the re-routed Peterborough Chase here in December and also holds each way claims.
The Henry De Bromhead-trained CHRIS'S DREAM ran in the Gold Cup last year. He is a lot better horse than he showed behind Min in the John Durkan and he certainly has enough back class to figure in this contest.
KALASHNIKOV is a terrific horse but he has gone without a win for nearly two years but not to be underestimated.
At the moment, the most backed horses are the following:
