TRIUMPH HURDLE BETTING PREVIEW
The final day of the 2025 Cheltenham Festival gets underway with the grade one Triumph Hurdle. It's a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle race, run over two miles and one furlong, for horses aged four. Unlike the Supreme Novices Hurdle, this race restricts entry to 4-year-old novice hurdlers, eliminating age difference from the factors that decide the race winner. This makes the race the starting platform for many young horses, and it is certainly a race to watch for the future.
The JCB Triumph Hurdle often attracts a maximum field so tactics are crucial, and prominent runners could be at an advantage by keeping out of the carnage further down the field.
And now we take a closer look at this year's JCB Triump Hurdle and try to determine which horse is likely to prevail.
Who will win the Triumph Hurdle 2025?
EAST INDIA DOCK has won all three of his hurdling starts for James Owen by a combined distance of 32 lengths, including the Juvenile Hurdle at Cheltenham. He trashed a modest field in the Grade 2 Finesse on Trials Day over this course and distance last time, beating Stencil by ten lengths.
After winning by five lengths at Auteuil in October, LULAMBA made the ideal start to life in Britain ias he beat the well touted Mondo Man giving that rival 10lbs at Ascot in January. Nicky Henderson's runner missed his intended prep-run in the Adonis Hurdle.
HELLO NEIGHBOUR is unbeaten in four starts on the Flat and over hurdles. Gavin Cromwell's four-year-old opened his account at Grade One level with a hard-fought success at the Dublin Racing Festival. Prior to that he saw off Lady Allen Vega to land the Grade Two at Leopardstown over Christmas.
LADY VEGA ALLEN only lost by a short-head to Hello Neighbour at Leopardstown. Willie Mullin's mare then headed to the Spring Juvenile Hurdle where a poor jump at the least meant she couldn't finish any better than third.
PALLADIUM was purchased for €1.4 million having won the German Derby last season. He won his stable debut for Nicky Henderson at Huntingdon but didn't look like a natural over hurdles.
Joseph O'Brien's GALILEO DAME has finished 2nd on both of her starts over hurdles but the latest was when less than a length behind Hello Neighbour in the Spring Juvenile at the Dublin Racing Festival
Dark Horses?
The Rich Ricci-owned SAINTE LUCIE could be another contender here. Trained by Willie Mullins, he was an 11-length winner at Punchestown on New Year’s Eve. Anyway, she finished a 43l last of 8 behind Hello Neighbour and Lady Vega Allen at Leopardstown.
GIBBS ISLAND won both of his starts over hurdles for Tom Lacey. He opened his account wiht a narrow victory at Sedgefield, and then wo the Victor Ludorum Juvenile Hurdle at Haydock beating the subsequent winner Give It To Me Oj.
CHARLUS won three of four starts in France on the flat and is now one from one over hurdles, as Willie Mullins' recruit made a belated hurdling debut at Naas in January, where he ground out a narrow victory.
MONDO MAN failed to settle when only third as the favourite in the Adonis Hurdle at Kempton last time out. Prior to that, he impressed with that runner-up finish to Lulamba at Ascot.
Other horses that can't be ruled out for a Top 3 placement are BLUE LEMONS (mounted by Rachael Blackmore), WILLE DE HOUELLE, PLACE DE LA NATION, PAPPANO and LARZAC.

Ruby Walsh's Tips
"I had my doubts about East India Dock walking around the ring on Trials day at Cheltenham in January. I was looking at him, thinking he was a handy little bit of a horse who looked a picture. But he’s as hard as nails, he jumps like a buck and gets the trip really well. When it gets down to it, when they cross the road heading up to the last hurdle in the Triumph is that really long run on the New Course. When it gets down to who’s got the guts for this, I’d like to be on East India Dock."
