The Pertemps Final Hurdle is a handicap race and is run on the Thursday of the Cheltenham Festival after being served by several trial races throughout the National Hunt season. It's a Grade 3 handicap hurdle over nearly three miles, for horsers aged five years old and upwards. Many outsiders have claimed glory in the race in the past.

The Pertemps Final Handicap has produced several big priced winners in recent years with the average SP of around 20/1 since the year 2000, so clearly this is a bookmaker friendly handicap (where stakes are best kept to a minimum).

And now we'll take a closer look at this year's Pertemps Final Handicap and try to determine which horse is likely to prevail.

Who will win the Pertemps Final Handicap 2021?We'll take a closer look at this year's Pertemps Final Handicap Hurdle and try to determine which horse is likely to prevail in this race.

THE BOSSES OSCAR finished fifth in the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle at last year’s festival. Since then he has stepped up in trip this season and was a close runner-up in the Leopardstown Christmas qualifier that Gordon Elliott has used as a stepping stone before.

The Nicky Henderson trained CHAMPAGNE PLATINUM was a big eye catcher at Haydock last time and off of only a 1lb higher mark can be competitive.

IMPERIAL ALCAZAR was impressive when winning a qualifier at Warwick in January. He’s been raised 8lb for that but should be a serious contender as well.

BRINKLEY has only raced on testing ground, so a sounder surface at the Festival would pose a different test, but he was very strong at the finish at Exeter and should relish the stiff uphill finish at Cheltenham.

COME ON TEDDY was beaten only 5 lengths by Imperial Alcazar in the Warwick qualifier. He now re-opposes on 8lb better terms and with previous course form should run well. A career-best performance would be needed to get involved.

SPIRITOFTHEGAMES is yet to win around Cheltenham, but he couldn’t have come much closer, finishing just a short-head behind Warthog in last year’s Caspian Caviar Gold Cup,

Paul Nolan's MRS MILNER has course experience as he was runner up to On The Blind Side in November. He qualified by finishing 4th in the Leopardstown qualifier over Christmas.

Dark Horses? The Willie Mullins-trained eight-year-old DANDY MAG won the big Pertemps Qualifier at Leopardstown, beating The Bosses Oscar in the process. He could be a smart choice at current odds.

STORM ARISING is 2 from 3 this season, winning at Lingfield and Chepstow either side of a December second behind Portrush Ted at Sandown, where he looked the winner for a long while only to get done close to home. He can be the surprise package of this race.

BUSHYPARK has been a revelation this season winning 5 of his 6 starts rising some 49lb in the process. He’s up 12lb for his latest romp in the Haydock qualifier in February He is ground dependent mind as he loves the mud.

Harry Fry’s veteran UNOWHATIMEANHARRY also deserves a mention.
