Manchester UTD vs Manchester City betting preview

Manchester United’s Champions League exit has piled renewed pressure on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer heading into this clash. The Red Devils lost 3-2 against RB Leipzig (we predicted the correct score here) and finished third in their group. Domestically, United are one point clear of City in the Premier League table with a W6 D1 L3 record so far. They did the double over their neighbours last season and will aim to make it three in a row. The Red Devils are backable at 7/2 with William Hill (but 888sport are boosting them to 28/1).

Manchester City secured a comfortable qualification in Champions League as Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Marseille meant they won their group with a club-best 16 points. The Citizens have enjoyed back-to-back routine wins at home to Burnley (5-0) and Fulham (2-0) in Premier League, meaning they have started to fire all cylinders after a struggling first part of the season. Only Tottenham have beaten Man City in their last 15 games across all competitions but, despite that, Pep Guardiola's men are 5 points below league leaders Tottenham with one game in hand. The Citizens are favorite to get all three points at Old Trafford: normal odds 3/4 with Unibet, enhanced odds 8/1 with 888sport.

Team News & Probable Line-Ups

Solskjaer must decide whether or not to start Paul Pogba. The Frenchman has scored in back to back games but he should be benched following comments made about his future by his agent at the start of the week. Anthony Martial missed out against RB leipzig but should be recovered for the derby. Furthermore, Edinson Cavani will be assessed ahead of the game. Juan Mata could also come in on the right of the offensive midfield trio, alongside Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.

Manchester United (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles; McTominay, Fred; Mata, Fernandes, Rashford; Greenwood

Guardiola has confirmed that Sergio Aguero will not start this match despite he scored a goal against Marseille, meaning that Gabriel Jesus is expected to lead the line again. The Brazilian will be supported by Riyad Mahrez, Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling, with Phil Foden and Bernard Silva providing further options. Eric Garcia and Ilkay Gundogan were both forced off in midweek and they are unlikely to feature from the off.

Manchester City (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Walker, Stones, Dias, Mendy; Rodri, Fernandinho; Mahrez, De Bruyne, Sterling; Jesus

Manchester UTD v Manchester City Betting Tips

United's record at Old Trafford is currently a league-low 21% of their points - only four of 19 points have been collected on their own patch so far this season.

We believe the Citizens can grab maximum points at Old Trafford. Plus, a both teams to score bet could be a smart choice.
