Manchester City v Al-Hilal betting preview
Manchester City had a flawless record in the group stage, winning all three games in Group G and looking like their old selves in the final group game against Serie A giants Juventus. The Cityzen put 5 goals past the Bianconeri in a very enteraining 5-2 victory. Prior to that, Pep Guardiola's men recorded convincing victories over Wydad AC (2-0) and Al Ain (6-0) despite rotating his players. Should the Cityzens make it through to the quarter-finals, they could set up a repeat of the 2023 Champions League final if Inter Milan can defeat Brazilian side Fluminense in their own round of 16 tie.
Al Hilal finished second in Group H as they are unbeaten after three Club World Cup games. The Saudi team held Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw in their opening game, then managed to draw 0-0 against Red Bull Salzburg and dispatched Pachuca 2-0 in their final group game. As a result, Simone Inzaghi's men have conceded just one across 270 minutes of play, boasting the best defensive league of the FIFA Club World Cup alongside PSG and Monterrey.

Starting Lineups
Manchester City (4-3-3): Ederson; Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol, Ait Nouri; N. Gonzalez, B. Silva, Reijnders; Cherki, Haaland, Foden.
City will be without the injured Claudio Echeverri in the tie, as the youngster picked up an ankle injury, and Rico Lewis, who is suspended for this tie. Rodri will not be likely to start as Guardiola continues to manage his minutes following an ACL injury sustained last season. The Spaniard should be replaced by Nico Gonzalez, with Bernardo Silva and Tijani reijnders likely to complete the midfield trio. Up front, Erling Haaland shoudl finaly get a starting berth, while Rayan Cherki and Phil Foden should get the nod over Savinho and Jeremy Doku.
Al Hilal (4-4-2: Bono; Lodi, Koulibaly, Tambakti, Cancelo; Neves, N. Al Dawsari, Kanno, Milinkovic-Savic; Malcolm, Marcos Leonardo
Al Hilal lost captain Salem Al-Dawsari to a hamstring injury against Pachuca, and the 33-year-old is facing up to six weeks out of action. That would see Malcom partnering Marcos Leonardo up front, with Aleksandar Mitrovic benched once again. Ruben Neves will be the playmaker as usual, Mohamed Kanno will be given a start to strenghten the midfield with N.Al Dawsari and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic retaining their starting berth. Familar faces will forming the backline too, with Renan lodi and Joao Cancelo playing as full back, and the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly partnered by Hassan Al-Tambakti at the heart of the defense.
Best Odds
Manchester City are strong favourites to win. The best bookmakers have them down at 27/100 (1.27) to win compared to Al Hilal at 11/1. A draw in normal time is at around 28/5 (or 6.67 with non-UK bookies).
Manchester City v Al-Hilal Betting Tips
Al Hilal conceded just once in the group stage, despite facing offensive teams like Real Madrid, and looked a solid unit.
Anyway, Man City have emerged as the favourites to win this summer’s revamped competition. They were the only side to win all three of their group games and scored more goals (13) than any other side in the group stage.
We expect Man City to ease past Al Hilal, probably recording a wide margin victory in which the Saudi club could find the back of the net too. As a result, we go for Manchester City to win 4-1.
Erling Haaland has been relatively quiet so far, bagging just two goals. We back Haaland to score 2+ goals, as the Norwegian should start the match this time.
As to player betting, we recommend Ruben Neves to commit 2+ fouls.
