Greece v England betting preview
Greece have a 100% winning record in this Nations League campaign and currently top the group standings. Their 2-1 victory against England in October was their first-ever triumph over the Three Lions. Vangelis Pavlidis scored a brace, including a last-gasp 94th-minute winner after Jude Bellingham's equalizer. The Blue and Whites returned to home soil just three days later and preserved their perfect record in League B with a 2-0 victory over Ireland. Another victory on Thursday will guarantee them top spot in their group with one match to spare.
England have won three out of four Nations League matches, picking up nine points from a possible 12 available. They were beaten by Greece last month but, after that loss, they quickly bounced back with a 3-1 victory against Finland in Helsinki. As a result, the Three Lions are three points behind Thursday's opponents in the League B Group 2 table, with just two games left to play. Another loss on Thursday will see England miss out on top spot, while a point will see them confirm a top-two berth and a promotion play-off berth. This match will be Lee Carsley's last appearance as interim manager as Thomas Tuchel will take over from him in January.
Best Odds
England are the favourites to win in Athens at around Evens (odds are drifting), while Greece are around 17/5 (or 4.40). The Draw is available at around 12/5 (3.40).
Probable Line-ups
Greece (4-2-3-1): Vlachodimos; Rota, Mavropanos, Koulierakis, Tsimikas; Siopis, Mantalos; Masouras, Bakasetas, Tzolis; Pavlidis
Vangelis Pavlidis could continue to lead the line despite the return of Fotis Ioannidis from injury. Midfielder Dimitrios Kourbelis is suspended meaning that either Christos Zafeiris, Sotiris Alexandropoulos or Petros Mantalos could deputise alongside Cardiff City's Manolis Siopis. The backline will include Liverpool's Kostas Tsimikas and West Ham United's Konstantinos Mavropanos while Newcastle's second-choice goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos will start between the sticks.
England (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Walker, Konsa, Guehi, Lewis; Gomes, Gallagher; Madueke, Bellingham, Gordon; Kane
Lee Carsley has had to juggle a number of withdrawals from his final squad, including two rising stars like Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer. Levi Colwill, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Aaron Ramsdale and Declan Rice are out trhough injury. Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers has received his first senior call-up, while Jarrad Branthwaite and Jarrod Bowen along with the uncapped Tino Livramento and James Trafford have also been added to the squad. Kyle Walker remains in the squad despite being a fitness doubt, meaning that his teammate Rico Lewis or Lewis Hall could start as left-back.
Our Greece v England Betting Tips
England have won all four of their previous visits to Greece by an aggregate score of 9-1 but Greece will prove a tough nut to crack. They have lost just one of their last 16 matches in the UEFA Nations League, and have won seven of their last nine home games. The visitors may be without several star players, and although Carsley has a wealth of talent at his disposal, we believe "Greece to win or draw" Double Chance is a value bet.
We also recommend the "Both teams to score" option and the 1-1 Correct Score bet.
As for players betting, we back Conor Gallagher to commit 2+ fouls.
