Napoli are still undefeated in Serie A after 12 matches and top the standings with 32 points (W10 D2), one point above Juventus. They are undefeated in the last 24 league matches and have socred at least 3 goals in 7 of their last home fixtures. Before the International break, the Partenopei only managed to earn a goalless draw at Chievo, but that was only the second time they dropped points this season. In Champions League, Maurizio Sarri's men are on the to be knocked out, having suffered 3 defeats in the first 4 matches (two against Man City and one at Shakhtar Donetsk).

Maurizio Sarri has to choose between Mario Rui and Cristian Maggio to cover for the absence of Faouzi Ghoulam, with the former Empoli right back favourite to be handed his first start this season. No changes are expected in midfield - where Alla, Jorginho and Marek Hamisk are likely to feature from the off - and in attack. After a record-breaking transfer campaign this summer, AC Milan were expected to be much further along in their project but they currently sit 7th in the Serie A table with a W6 D1 L5 record. The Rossoneri beat Sassuolo on the road before the International break, their second victory in the last 8 matches, a run that also includes defeats in the Milan Derby (3-2 to Inter Milan), against Juventus (0-2 at home), against Roma (0-2 at home), and two goalless draw with AEK Athens in Europa League. Vincenzo Montella's men qualification to the kncokout stages of the Europa League is actually far to be secured.

Montella is expected to continue with the 3-4-2-1 formation deployed in recent games. Leonardo Bonucci will play with a protective mask after suffering a broken nose on international duty.
