INTER MILAN v NAPOLI BETTING PREVIEW
Inter’s brilliant 7-1 win over Atalanta was followed up by a five game run without a win. Their defense conceded 13 times in that process. The Nerazzurri went down 5-4 in a thriller at Fiorentina last time out and blew a 2-0 lead over AC to draw 2-2 prior to that. Their hopes to make the Champions League cut have thus been diminished and also an Europa League qualification is in doubt. New Chinese owners are prepared to go through another rebuilding process this summer and one of the changes they look to make is to bring a high-profile manager to the helm.
João Mario, Ever Banega and Marcelo Brozovic are all in contention for the spot as number ten behind the lone striker Mauro Icardi. On his flanks, Ivan Perisic and Antonio Candreva are likely to retain their starting berth. Defender Christian Ansaldi remains the only unavailable player and this would see Yuto Nagatomo forming the four man backline with Gary Medel, Joao Miranda and Danilo D'Ambrosio once again. The likes of Roberto Gagliardini and Geoffrey Kondogbia will be chosen pair in the middle of the park.
Napoli enter this clash on the back of a 2-2 draw at Sassuolo last weekend, a match that could have cost them the 2nd position in the league. That game has also shown the Partenopei are still vulnerable at the back. They have kept only two clean sheets in their last 13 on the road. Maurizio Sarri's men have been one of the most exciting Serie A sides to watch this season, scoring no less than 77 goals in the league so far. Maurizio Sarri's men have won three of the last six direct encounters against Inter Milan, including a 3-0 victory at the San Paolo earlier this season. Anyway, the Azzurri have won just one away match with Inter in the past nine seasons.
The visitors have a clean bill of health to report and Manager Maurizio Sarri is likely to stick with his preferred starting XI, meaning that Arkadiusz Milik will be left on the bench for top scorer Dries Mertens once again. Defender Lorenzo Tonelli is the only doubt as he is still struggling with injury. In midfield, the likes of Allan, Marek Hamsik and Amadou Diawara are expected to feature from the off while in defense Ivan Strinic and Faouzi Ghoulam are in contention for the left-back position.
