Honduras came into the tournament as the outsiders in this group and they did little to rid themselves of that tag when losing 3-0 to France. Anyway, the team’s first-half performance was fairly positive and if it weren’t for the red card shown to Wilson Palacios and the late first-half penalty goal from Benzema, the story of the match could have been completely different.

Wilson Palacios earned two yellow cards and will be suspended for this match. Centre-back Victor Bernárdez is a severe doubt after picking up a knee injury against France so Osman Chávez may replace him.

Ecuador produced a promising display in the first round of fixtures. They thought they had a point in their opener against Switzerland, until they were struck down by a late goal. That 2:1 loss has left him without a win in their last four matches and they haven’t kept a competitive clean sheet in their last six played.

Ecuador coach Reinaldo Rueda may avoid making changes to his Ecuador line-up. Michael Arroyo will hope for more playing time but Felipe Caicedo and Enner Valencia are likely to remain in attack. The latter is on fire: he has scored in each of his last five appearances for Ecuador.
