Sweden v England betting preview
Sweden have kept three clean sheets so far in this tournamentSweden earned their place in the Quarter Finals of the tournament with a 1-0 victory over Switzerland. That match was of relatively poor quality and it was perhaps fitting that it was settled by a deflected shot. The Swedes have kept three clean sheets in foru World Cup games so far, as only Germany have found the back of the net against them. The Scandinavians suffered a 2-1 defeat against Die Mannschaft but topped their group by beating 1-0 South Korea and 3-0 Mexico. The four previous World Cup meetings between Sweden and England have all ended as draws.
Head coach Janne Andersson has lost Mikael Lustig through suspension while Sebastian Larsson will return to the starting XI after missing their last match for the same reason. Emil Krafth is likely to play as right back, joining Victor Lindelof, Emil Granqvist and Ludwig Augustinsson at the back. No changes are expected in midfield and attack, meanign that Marcus Berg and Ola Toivonen will lead the line, with the likes of Larsson, Albin Ekdal, Emil Forsberg and Viktor Claesson starting in the middle of the park.
England are the only team left in the competition yet to keep a clean sheetEngland won their first ever World Cup penalty shoot-out in the Round of 16 as they eliminated Colombia after a Yerry Mina’s injury time goal cancelled out Harry Kane’s opener. Prior to that, the Three Lions secured all three points in their opening game against Tunisia (2-1), they then earned their most comprehensive World Cup win ever on Matchday 2 by thumping Panama 6-1 before a rotated squad were beaten 1-0 by Belgium in their final game. Gareth Southgate is instilling a confidence not seen in an England side for some time and England are odds on to reach the final 4 for the first time since 1990.
Jamie Vardy remains a serious doubt for Saturday afternoon while Ashley Young, Dele Alli and Kyle Walker all picked up minor knocks and their fitness will be monitored. As a result, Gareth Southgate may look to bring in fresh legs with Marcus Rashford, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Danny Rose all pushing for a start. Jesse Lingard was the weakest piece of the puzzle in the 3-5-2 formation and should sit on bench as well as Ashley Young. Up front, the current topscorer Harry Kane will spearhead the attack.
