BRIGHTON v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY BETTING PREVIEW

Brighton were left stunned last week by their 0-2 defeat on Wednesday, following a below par performance in one of the most important games in their 114-year history. The defeat on Friday made it three games without a win for Brighton, but it was their first defeat in 14 games. The Seagulls have won just one of their last seven matches on home turf against the top eight sides in the Championship this season. Anyway, they have won by more than two goals in four of their last six victories at Amex Stadium.

Injuries and suspensions that have left Chris Hughton’s first team looking decidedly depleted. The Seagulls lost four players to injury in the 2-0 first-leg defeat as Connor Goldson, Tomer Hemed, Steve Sidwell and Anthony Knockaert are all expected to miss out, while Dale Stephens is still suspended. Furthermore, Bobby Zamora and Solly March are long-term injury absentees. Andrew Crofts could be drafted into Brighton's midfield

Goals from Ross Wallace and Kieran Lee gave Sheffield Wednesday a 2-0 first leg win that puts them in a commanding position and one foot in the Wembley decider on May 28. The Owls have only won two of their last seven outings in the Championship, but crucially they have only lost two of their last 12 games. They have only conceded 28 goals in their 23 away games this season. The visitors have been beaten by more than a single goal in just one of their last 31 Championship fixtures

The Owls could even keep the exact same starting line-up which beat Brighton just days ago. Manager Carlos Carvalhal withdrew influential trio Ross Wallace, Alex Lopez and Gary Hooper in the late stages of Friday's clash in a bid to keep all three fresh for the return. Atdhe Nuhiu and Marco Matias both came on against Brighton on Friday, and would step in if Carvalhal wants to freshen things up.

Brighton have failed to find the net in their previous three fixtures against the Owls this season. Furthermore, Sheff Wed have kept a clean sheet in their last 6 matches against Brighton in all competitions.
