BRAZIL v NETHERLANDS BETTING PREVIEW

Brazil was shocked 7-1 by Germany, which was by far their worst international loss ever. Brazilian fans were in tears from the 30th minute as Germany strode into a 5-0 lead and there really was no hope of coming back. Whilst the Brazilians hadn't looked overly convincing in the group stage and the knockout rounds, there was little indication they could implode in the manner they did.

Thiago Silva was suspended for the Germany match and will play in this one. As for Neymar, it is impossible that he will play for Brazil on next Saturday’s match, not only because of his injury but because of his agent’s recent unpleasant comments towards Scolari as well. It is expected that the indisposed Fred will finally remain on the bench, as well as some other players that were completely out of shape while Willian is set to start in the absence of Neymar after Bernard disappointed against Germany. Hernanes isset to start in midfield.

Netherlands played out a cagey 0-0 draw with Argentina before suffering their own agony when losing the penalty shoot out. Their defense was great against Argentina and they were able to completely stop Messi but their offense was very poor once again, after a disappointing performance against Costa Rica. Against Brazil and in a match without as much pressure, a much more proactive Dutch side can be expected.

The Oranje are without the injured Leroy Fer who also missed the semi-final with a hamstring injury. Arjen Robben and Robin van Persie being ineffective in the last two matches and Van Gaal could deploy Depay and Huntelaar up-front plus Michael Vorm in goal, having used each of the other 22 players in his squad so far in this competition. Ron Vlaar is a doubt and may not be risked, with Joël Veltman tipped to come in. The Dutch manager has already bemoaned the fact they have had to play this game after crashing out of the tournament, so expect a few reluctant players on the field.

Judging by both teams’ Semi-Finals clashes, the Dutch team have to be considered favourites for the next Saturday’s match but Brazil, despite their defeat to Germany, will be out to bow out on a high and may benefit from the extra days rest.
