Arsenal have won only one of their latest 15 matches in all competitions

Arsenal showed spirit in Mikel Arteta's debut match as head coach but were condemned by two defensive errors and succumbed 1-2 to Chelsea at Emirates. As a result, the Gunners have ended 2019 by winning just one of their final 15 games across all competitions and one of their last 12 in the league. The club has dropped to 12th place in the Premier League standings, a whopping 15 points below 4th placed Chelsea. Furthermore, the Gunners have failed to win their last seven home games and have failed to keep a clean sheet in 16 of their last 17 outings.

Calum Chambers limped off in the first half against Chelsea, with the defender set for another extended spell on the sidelines with a knee problem. He joined Sead Kolasinac and Kieran Tierney on the long-term injury list. Hector Bellerin, Gabriel Martinelli, Dani Ceballos, Granit Xhaka and Rob Holding are the main injury concerns for Arteta but they are closing in on returns from injury. Alexandre Lacazette should continue to lead the line up front, supported by Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and one between Reiss Nelson and Nicolas Pepe.

Manchester UTD refound their groove over Christmas and enter this match o nthe back of back to back victories over Newcastle (4-1 at home) and Burnley (0-2 away). Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have only lost one of their last eight matches, their recent form reads W6-D1-L1 since early December, even if one of those games was an easy ride against League Two outfit Colchester in cup action. Paul Pogba could be back in contention, but it remains to be seen whether Solskjaer would risk the midfielder. Hence, Nemanja Matic could potentially be asked to fill in alongside Fred in the middle of the park. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw and Jesse Lingard will also be hopeful of recalls with the latter threatening Mason Greenwood's berth in the starting XI. Daniel James and Andreas Pereira are also in contention for a place i nthe offensive midfield trio whiel the in-form Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are expected to feature from the off. Viktor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are likely to be paired at the heart of the backline. Scott McTominay, Marcos Rojo, Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are the sure absentees.
