ARSENAL v CRYSTAL PALACE BETTING PREVIEW
Arsenal were a little lucky to finally get over the line against a stoic West Brom backline on Boxing Day, thanks to a late goal from Olivier Giroud. The Gunners are still nine points behind Chelsea and cannot afford any more slip ups. Wengers' men have won the last 3 encounters played on their own turf and are undefeated in their last 8 matches against Crystal Palace in all competitions.
Arsene Wenger has revealed that Shkodran Mustafi will be in the squad after he returned to training following a hamstring injury. Kieran Gibbs and Theo Walcott are both likely to miss out while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is rated as doubtdul. Aaron Ramsey returned to first team action after a 20-day absence with a late cameo last time out and may be an option to start here, with Granit Xhaka sitting on the bench. Olivier Giroud is expected to lead the line, while Alex Iwobi, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will play as offensive midfielders.
Sam Allardyce took over at Palace just before Christmas and his first game in charge delivered a 1-1 draw away at Watford. It could have been very different had Christian Benteke converted his penalty which would have doubled their advantage over the Hornets. The Eagles have failed to win 11 of their last 12 matches in the top-flight and are 17th in the standings, just 2 points outside the drop zone.
Damien Delaney is suspended for the trip to the Emirates. With James Tomkins and Pape Souare both ruled out, new Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce is short of options at the back, with Ezekiel Fryers a candidate to play deputise in Delaney's absence. Andros Townsend, Jason Puncheon, Wilfried Zaha may well continue behind lone striker Christian Benteke with Puncheon perhaps missing out. Steve Mandanda, Pape Souare, Bakary Sako and Connor Wickham are all out through injury.
