DEONTAY WILDER vs LUIS ORTIZ BETTING PREVIEW
The WBC Heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is stepping inside the ring for the 40th time in his professional career and he boasts a perfect 39-0 record, with all but one of his wins ending in knockouts. The 32-year-old has defended that belt six times, winning every one of them inside the distance. In his most recent fight, the "Bronze Bomber" destroyed Berman Stiverne right in the opening round last November. Anyway, he has gone beyond six rounds in four of his six title defences.
He has not been tested by too many big heavyweight names and this is the biggest fight of his career. Furthermore, his his technical acumen is often questioned. Eric Molina, who was last seen being battered by Anthony Joshua, rocked the Bronze Bomber with a left hook in their June 2015 fight. Wilder has the height advantage over his rival. He stands 6’7”, while Ortiz is listed at 6’4”.

Luis Ortiz is also unbeaten as he owns a 28-0-0 record thus far. But there is a troubling history of positive drug tests, including being stripped of the WBA title in 2014. The Cuban fighter has beaten 14 of his last 15 opponents inside the distance – although two of those were ruled no contests after Ortiz failed drug tests. Bryant Jennings was probably his best win, back in December 2015, finished in 7 rounds. He beat a faded Tony Thompson after that, and Malik Scott in 12 rounds. In his last two, Ortiz has beaten David Allen and Daniel Martz, non-contenders, in the past two Decembers.
Ortiz is a hard puncher, one that has knocked 24 of 28 opponents in his professional career. He is renowned for his spectacular punching power and being a counter-punching specialist. "King Kong" is a southpaw and as we saw in the Artur Szpilka fight, Wilder is not completely comfortable against left-handed fighters. Despite his opponent is taller than him, Ortiz has the reach advantage in this fight. He has an 84 inch reach, while Wilder’s is at 83. One concern for Ortiz is his age. He is 38 and soon to be 39, and this could be a handicap in alter rounds. Plus, he has only boxed for two rounds in the past 14 months.
