WEST HAM vs CHELSEA BETTING PREVIEW
West Ham were downed by another late show from Man City last weekend, impressing despite losing 2-1 at the Premier League table toppers, a result that left the Hammers second from bottom. That was their fourth defeat in the last 5 league matches. They are still yet to pick up a first win since David Moyes took charge and are now eight games without a win in the Premier League (W0 D3 L5). Their total of 10 points from their 15 games this season is their third worst-ever start to a league season. As to direct matches with Chelsea, West Ham have avoided defeat in three of the last five encounters, while there has never been more than a one-goal winning margin in any of the last six direct matches.
Cheikhou Kouyate and Michail Antonio are doubts for the visit of the current champions. With Andy Carroll and Chicharito Hernandez out through injury, Diafra Sakho could lead the line. Manuel Lanzini is expected to start as number ten in a 3-5-1-1 starting system, while Edimilson Fernandes should join Pedro Obiang and Mark Noble in the middle of the park. Arthur Masuaku and Pablo Zabaleta will play as wing-backs with Aaron Cresswell required to play as centre back in the three man defense alongside Angelo Ogbonna and Declan Rice. The likes of Sam Byram, Josè Fonte, Winston Reid and James Collins remain sidelined.
Chelsea came from behind to beat Newcastle at the weekend and were forced to settle for a share of the spoils against Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League on Tuesday night. That draw costed the Blues the top spot in in Group C as they finished runners up to Roma. In Premier League, Antonio Conte's men sit third in the table, 11 points behind Manchester City, and have secured six wins and a draw at Liverpool from their last seven fixtures. The Blues have lost three of their last six visits to West Ham in all competitions (W3 L3), losing in the League Cup and winning in the Premier League at the London Stadium last season.
Antonio Conte looks likely to play with a 3-5-1-1 system, in which Danny Drinkwater will partner N'Golo Kantè and Cesc Fabregas in central midfield, with Tiemouè Bakayoko back up option. Victor Moses and Davide Zappacosta will battle for a starting berth at right wing-back while Eden Hazard will start behind the lone striker Alvaro Morata. The likes of Willian and Pedro provide further alternatives up-front. David Luiz remains sidelined for the away side, but Kenedy and Charly Musonda are now available.
