WEST BROM vs ARSENAL BETTING PREVIEW
West Brom have not yet benefitted from any particular ‘bounce’ under new manager Alan Pardew as they are winless in the league since the second weekend of the season. The Baggies recorded a goalless draw against Everton in midweek and remained 19th in the Premier League table, 3 points away from safety. They created a handful of quality chances and held the Toffees without a shot on frame until after halftime. The Baggies' return of 14 goals scored in 20 games this season is the second-worst in the division.
Salomon Rondon suffered a hamstring injury last time out and will miss the home encounter, leaving Hal Robson-Kanu and Jay Rodriguez up front. Matt Phillips returned from injury in midweek and is likely to retain his start on the right wing, with James McClean a possible alternative to Chris Brunt on the opposite flank. Jake Livermore and Gareth Barry may again anchor the midfield, although Grzegorz Krychowiak and Claudio Yacob are viable alternatives. No changes are expected in defense where Craig Dawson, Ahmed Hegazi, Johnny Evans and Kieran Gibbs will form the four man backline. Nacer Chadli and James Morrison are all expected to miss out through injury.
Arsenal earned a 3-2 win over London rivals Crystal Palace on Thursday at Selhurst Park. They Gunners have thus extended a six-match unbeaten streak and have been in great shape recently and come into the week on the back of a thriller 3-3 draw against in-form Liverpool. They are only a point off the top four but they are in the middle of a hectic schedule with a game against Chelsea coming next Wednesday and a FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Arsenal have left this ground empty-handed in each of the last two consecutive seasons, including last March when the Gunners were humbled in a 3-1 defeat that led to questions over Wenger’s future.
Arsene Wenger switched back to a 3-4-2-1 formation last time out and is exected to stick with this system. Calum Chambers was handed a rare start in the back three, and with Nacho Monreal still sidelined with an ankle injury, may keep his starting spot. Hector Bellerin and Sead Kolasinac will start as wing-backs while Granit Xhaka is a major doubt and could repalced by Francis Coquelin or Mohamed Elneny. With Aaron Ramsey still sidelined, Jack Wilshere are expected to start in the middle of the park. Up front, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil look sure starters while Danny Welbeck and Alexandre Lacazette are in contention for the central berth. Olivier Giroud will miss through injury.
