TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 20 BETTING PREVIEW
The only ITT of the 105th Tour De France is up and down all the way and it comes on the penultimate day of racing. Climbs are steep and descents are very technical. With 3km to go, riders must climb the Col de Pinodieta, a 1km long ascent that features gradients near 20 to 22%. So, the winner of stage 20 will be someone who is fast, agile and strong to quickly conquer those hills.- Geraint Thomas (Sky) - + 79h 49’ 31”
- Tom Dumoulin (Sunweb) - + 2’ 05”
- Primož Roglič (LottoNL-Jumbo) - + 2’ 24”
- Chris Froome (Sky) - + 2’ 37”
Primoz Roglic was amazing on Friday and looks the in-form rider of the third week. He's an ITT specialist and the route of the ITT in the Basque region perfectly suits his skills.
Geraint Thomas needs to defend his yellow jersey from Dumoulin and Roglic. He's not the best time-trialist of the peloton but energy level is the most important factor in the third week.
Chris Froome is struggling in the last few days and cna't be considered the odds on favoruite. Anyway, the Brit would love a stage win to salvage his Tour, and could conceivably jump back over Roglic to reclaim the podium spot he lost on Stage 19.
Jonathan Castroviejo for Sky and Tobias Ludvigsson for FDJ could also deliver a good performance.
Other candidates are Maciej Bodnar, Bob Jungels, Stefan Kung and Michal Kwiatkowski. Anyway, we don't expect any of these riders to finish close to the fastest.
Ion Izaguirre could be the surprise package of the days as Bahrain Merida is fighting to win the Team Classification.
Tejay Van Garderen has been below par this year and probably will finish out of the the Top 10 while Nairo Quintana suffered an injury on Thursday's crash and should not be in the mix.
No chances for his Movistar team-mates Alejandro Valverde and Mikel Landa.
