The 15th stage of the Tour de France, a 181.5 km route from Millau to Carcassonne, takes riders across southern France to the foothills of the Pyrenees and is a race for attackers from far out. TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 15 BETTING PREVIEW
The early terrain is designed to get the break going, with short climbs and descents to forge a gap in.Three categorized climbs—including the Category 1 Pic de Nore, which is new to the Tour—serve as the day’s focal point. That climb is 12.3 kilometres with an average uphill slope of 6.3%, but after the crest it’s up to the daredevil descenders. The Pic summit lies 40km from the finish, so we don’t expect a GC battle. Anyway, 20 kilometres of false flat downhill can make the finale very eventful.
This is another ideal stage for Peter Sagan to strike out on the front. The Slovakian finished 4th on Saturday's stage, who was much tougher, so he could easily be in the mix after the Pic de Nore ascent.
Many Saturday's attackers such as Julian Alaphilippe and Philippe Gilbert could be very tired, so it could be worth it to take a look at fresher legs. Warren Barguil was very quiet last time out but maybe he was saving legs for next week's stages on the Pyrenees.
Alejandro Valverde is still to close to the top position in the general classification to receive the green light for the breakaway. The same apply for Daniel Martin, Ilnur Zakarin and Primoz Roglic.
Our first choice riders are fast riders with good climbing skills - Edvald Boasson Hagen, Michael Valgren, Daryl Impey, Gregor Muhlberger, Sonny Colbrelli and Arthur Vichot.
Dark horses?
There are a lot of riders who could go on the break and have a brilliant climbing on the final ascent - including David Gaudu and Serge Pauwels who are high up in the KOM points competition too!
Other long shots we fancy are Mikel Nieve, Daniel Navarro, Daniel Martinez, Guillaume Martin and Pierre Latour.
