SWANSEA vs TOTTENHAM BETTING PREVIEW
Carlos Carvalhal could not have asked for a better start to his Swansea reign as the Swans recorded an impressive 2-1 win away at Watford last Saturday. They had won just one game in 12 prior to that. Swansea ended a run of seven consecutive away defeats and escaped the rock-bottom of the Premier League standings as they are level on points with 19th placed West Brom. In terms of direct matches, this is a fixture that Tottenham have dominated - the Swans are D2 L10 against Spurs in their last 12 meetings.
New Swans boss Carlos Carvalhal faces a striking headache with Tammy Abraham is a doubt for the match. He will be reluctant to make wholesale changes but he will be forced to tweak his defence with right-back Kyle Naughton beginning a three-match ban. Angel Rangel looks set to deputise in his place while Leroy Fer, Luciano Narsingh and Nathan Dyer are pushing for recalls in midfield. The likes Kyle Bartley, Wilfried Bony and Ki Sung-yueng will all be assessed ahead of the clash. Leon Britton will miss out with a calf problem.
Tottenham were not in action last weekend but recorded a 5-2 win over Southampton on Boxing Day. They have won four of their last five games and bagged 16 goals in the process, with the only blip coming in the 4-1 defeat at Manchester City. The Lilywhites were held to goalless draw at Wembley when the Swans came to London earlier in the season. That was the Swans' third draw against Spurs in the Premier League, but they have yet to beat Tottenham in 13 meetings.
Harry Kane will be the big concern for manager Mauricio Pochettino ahead of the trip to Wales. Fernando Llorente would stand in for Kane should he miss out, though Son Heung-min is also an option. The Argentine manager will be also without Toby Alderweireld and Victor Wanyama, though the latter is close to a return. Moussa Sissoko could come into the midfield alongside Eric Dier in place of Mousa Dembele. Elsewhere full-backs Kieran Trippier and Ben Davies could earn recalls having been kept on the bench last time out.
