The Potters won 0-1 against Watford at Vicarage Road before drawing to Leicester and Brighton and ultimately losing 2-1 to Crystal Palace on Saturday. They are currently 15th in the Premier League table with 13 points off 13 games - just three points above the relegation zone - and haven’t taken all three points since a 1-0 win over Watford at the end of October. Mark Hughes' defense have conceded at least 2 goals in 5 of the last 6 matches in the top flight.
There will almost certainly be changes from the side which was beaten by Crystal Palace last weekend. Xherdan Shaqiri and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting look certain starters up front in attack, with Choupo-Moting set to move to the left of the front three should Crouch be handed a start against his former club. In that case, Ramadan Sobhi should make room. Darren Fletcher and Joe Allen are the favourites to continue in central midfield while Bruno Martins Indi may replace Ryan Shawcross in defense. Glen Johnson remains a doubt, while Jack Butland and Geoff Cameron remain sidelined.
Liverpool enter this match in good form as the Wembley defeat to Spurs is the only one they have suffered in the last 12 matches they have played. They were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea at the weekend and conceded 3 goals to Sevilla in Champions League when they drew 3-3 in Spain 10 days ago. Prior to that, Jurgen Klopp's men had won three consecutive league games by three goals. The Reds currently sit 6th in the league table but they have the joint worst defensive record away from home in the Premier League this season. The most recent meeting at the bet365 Stadium saw the Reds come home with three points after goals from Firmino and Coutinho secured the points.
Roberto Firmino unused substitute and Sadio Mane only played a few minutes from the bench last time out. They should both start this time completing the attack with Coutinho and Mo Salah, with Daniel Sturridge and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain expected to make way. Georginio Wijnaldum is expected to feature from the off in midfield with Jordan Henderson, given Emre Can has just recovered from a muscle problem and Adam Lallana lacks match fitness. In defense, Dejan Lovren is a major doubt, meaning that Ragnar Klavan should partner Joel Matip in central defense. Trent Alexander-Arnold provides a viable alternative to Joe Gomez at right-back while Alberto Moreno is likely to retain his starting berth as right back.
