TOTTENHAM vs WATFORD BETTING PREVIEW
Tottenham will be hoping to return on the winning ways after being without a single victory in last three games across all competitions. They were dumped out of the FA Cup by Manchester United last weekend. Prior to that, Mauricio Pochettino's men lost ground in the race to secure a Champions League spot next season by losing 1-2 to Tottenham at home and recording a 1-1 draw at Brighton. As to direct matches, Tottenham are undefeated in their last 12 matches against Watford in all competitions.
Hugo Lloris will return in goal for Spurs after Michel Vorm started in the FA Cup semi-final. Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura provide alternatives to Son Heung-min in the attacking midfield positions in Mauricio Pochettino’s favoured 4-2-3-1 formation. In defense, Toby Alderweireld will be forced to contend with a place on the bench at best, as Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez will start at the heart of the back. The likes of Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier are likely to feature from the off in midfield.
Watford enter this match following a six-match winless run in the top flight that has brought them only two points from underwhelming home draws against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace. The Hornets have a comfortable 9 point cushion on the drop zone and sit respectably in 12th position in the table standings, but to be honest it looks like the players have switched off right now. Javi Gracia's men have lost 9 of their last 10 away Premier League matches, failing to score in their last 6 away games. The direct match earlier this season ended in a 1-1 draw in early-December at Vicarage Road Stadium.
Troy Deeney should be fit for the trip to Wembley, with the forward resuming full training on Friday following an ankle problem. Richarlison, Kiko Femenia and Daryl Janmaat may all come into the side that started last time out. Will Hughes is expected to play as number ten with Etienne Capoue partnering Abdoulaye Doucourè in the middle of the park. Sebastian Prodl, Andre Carrillo and Roberto Pereyra are all doubts while Tommie Hoban, Nathaniel Chalobah, Tom Cleverley, Gerard Deulofeu and Younes Kaboul are all sidelined. Stefano Okaka has been ruled out with a thigh injury, and may miss the rest of the season.
