REAL MADRID vs PSG BETTING PREVIEW
A disastrous domestic season sees Real Madrid 4th in La Liga table, 17 points behind leaders and arch rivals Barcelona with one game in hand. They hammered Real Sociedad 5-2 in a home fixture at the weekend but their home record comprises of 7 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats. Zinedine Zidane's men have struggled for consistency throughout the Champions League too, having finished runner up to Tottenham in the group stage, which also included APOEL and Borussia Dortmund.
Daniel Carvajal is suspended for the first leg, and Nacho is expected to deputise at right back rather than the youngster Achraf Hakimi. Casemiro was rested at the weekend and will return to the starting XI, forming the usual midfield trio with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. Up front, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale are expected to feature from the off, with Marcos Asensio and Isco providing viable alternatives.
PSG are expected to complete a clean sweep of all domestic trophies in France. Les Parisiens are 12 points clear at the top and have only dropped 10 points all season. They comfortably won their UCL group, winning their first 5 matches to seal the deal before they lost 3-1 to Bayern in Munich in the last fixture. The French champions recorded two big away wins at Anderlecht (4-0) and Celtic (5-0) and scored a whopping 25 goals in 6 games. PSG's last 13 Champions League games have all seen over 2.5 goals scored.
Veteran midfielder Thiago Motta is ruled out through injury. as a result, Giovani Lo Celso is expected to join Adrien Rabiot and Marco Verratti in the middle of the park. Layvin Kurzawa and Edinson Cavani both missed the win over Toulouse but they could both return here. The former will form the four man backline alongside Marquinhos, Dani Alves and Layvin Kurzawa while the Uruguayan will start as central forward with Neymar and Kylian Mbappè on his flanks. Julian Draxler and Angel di Maria will have to settle for a place on the bench.
