Rafael Nadal enters this clash on the back of a dominant win in the quarterfinals over Sam Querrey (7-5, 6-2, 6-2). To reach the semifinals round, Federer beat Kei Nishikori in the quarterfinals with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 score.
