MAN UTD vs ARSENAL BETTING PREVIEW
Manchester United managed to secure FA Cup final appearence by recording a 2-1 victory over Tottenham in last weekend's semifinal, a result which followed on from their midweek triumph at Bournemouth. Anyway, the Red Devils ended a run of five straight league home wins with a shock defeat by West Brom last time out. They sit 2nd in the Premier League ladder, three points ahead of arch rivals Liverpool with a game in hand. Josè Mourinho's men boast the third home record in the top-flight, having taken 41 points from a possible 51 in front of their own fans this campaign.
Josè Mourinho could retain the 4-3-3 formation, which would see Ander Herrera retain his place in central midfield alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic. Marcus Rashford, Juan Mata and Anthony Martial could be in contention for the attacking spots but Jesse Lingard and Alexis Sanchez should get the nod. In defense, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are likely to form the central pair as Eric Bailly is not 100% fit. Antonio Valencia was forced off with a muscle problem against Spurs, but he should be available, while Ashley Young will retain his starting berth at left back. Back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero remain out through injury.
Arsenal enter this clash after being held to a 1-1 draw by Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final, altough the Spanish giants played with ten men for more than 80 minutes. A top four finish in the league all but beyond them already, so Arsenal will completely focus on their European campaign. The Gunners have a poor away record in the league this season, having only won three of their 16 outings on the travels, with 4 draws, 9 defeats and a -9 goal difference! All those three away wins cam in 2017 while the last 5 away games all ended in a defeat. Arsene Wenger, who will leave the club this summer, has won just two of his 18 matches against United’s manager Josè Mourinho. The Gunners suffered a 3-1 defeat earlier this season when they welcomed Man UTD to Emirates last December.
Arsene Wenger seems likely to rest key men for the trip to Old Trafford. Laurent Koscielny and Aaron Ramsey should be saved for European action as well as Hector Bellerin, Nacho Monreal, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette. As a result, Calum Chambers and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are possible options at full-back, though the latter could also be required in midfield given Mohamed Elneny's absence. Sead Kolasinac is expected to start at left-back. Up front, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will feature from the off as he is uneligible in Europa League. Alex Iwobi looks an assured starter while the youngsters Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson could play at some stage. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is still a major doubt.
