BRIGHTON vs STOKE CITY BETTING PREVIEW
Brighton enter this match on the back of a very encouraging four-match unbeaten run comprising two victories and two draws. Both of their wins came on the road at West Ham and Swansea with clean sheets, while the stalemates were at home to Everton and Southampton. They currently sit 8th in the Premier League table going into this tie and have surpassed all expectations over the last couple of months. The Seagulls have a solid defense but their attack is not as good - they have scored more than one goal in only one of their six home league and cup games this season.
Chris Hughton has no fresh injury concerns as Davy Propper is available after overcoming an ankle injury to feature for Holland in midweek. It means that Steve Sidwell is the only sidelined player for the hosts. Up front, Pascal Gross is expected to continue in a central support role behind lone striker Glenn Murray. Anthony Knockaert and Jose Izquierdo may line up out wide with Solly March the main alternative. The standard back four of Bruno, Lewis Dunk, Shane Duffy and Gaetan Bong also looks set to stay unchanged.
Stoke City bounced back from a poor spell with a 1-0 victory at Watford through a Darren Fletcher goal, a win that followed a 2-2 home draw against Leicester. Anyway, the Potters haven’t enjoyed back-to-back away victories since October 2015. Mark Hughes' men have only won two of their last 10 competitive matches, languishing two points above the bottom three. They have struggled with consistency in defence so far this season and have conceded 22 goals in just 11 games - only West Ham (23), Everton (24) and Crystal Palace (24) have shipped more.
Lee Grant is set to deputise between the posts as Jack Butland may not feature again before Christmas after breaking a finger during the international break. Kurt Zouma, Ryan Shawcross and Kevin Wimmer could again form the three-man defence, although Bruno Martins Indi is also a viable starter. Glen Johnson and Geoff Cameron are major doubts. Peter Crouch came off the bench to score the equaliser against Leicester last time out and is pushing for a start, but Maxime Choupo-Moting is expected to play as central striker with Ramadan Sobhi and Xherdan Shaqiri in the attacking midfield positions. Jese and Saido Berahino provide further attacking options.
