Bordeaux have won only a single match in their first five Ligue 1 games, although they have drawn three times. Sagnol's men enter tis match on the back of a 2-2 draw away at champions PSG last time out, mainly thanks to a pair of errors from home goalkeeper Kevin Trapp. The Girondins sit 12th place in Ligue 1 at the moment but they won three of their four qualifying matches to qualify for the Europa League group stages.

Despite a promising start to the season for Liverpool, with two wins from their opening Premier League matches and a goalless draw against Arsenal, back-to-back defeats against West Ham United and Manchester United have cranked up the pressure on the Reds. The 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford leaves Liverpool sitting in 10th place in the table.

With Liverpool having a pivotal home game against Norwich on Sunday, Rodgers may opt to make changes to his lineups. Coutinho, suspended in Premier League last Saturday, is expected to feature while Mamadou Sakho might start in defense along with Alberto Moreno. The likes of Christian Benteke, James Milner, Lucas Leiva, and Nathaniel Clyne are reportedly being kept out of the squad. Daniel Sturridge has returned to training and could make his long-awaited return to action in Bordeaux.

Liverpool, who managed to score only three goals in the opening five matches in Premier League, have failed to win any of their last five matches away from home in European competition and failed to find the net in four of those fixtures.
