ARSENAL vs CHELSEA BETTING PREVIEW
Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw with West Brom on New Year's eve. The Gunners sit 5th in the Premier League standings. They trail 4th placed Liverpool by six points and have won just two of their last seven matches in the league. These sides have already faced each other twice this season, both of which finished all square. The first encounter came at Wembley in the Community Shield and ended 1-1 (Arsenal won the trophy on penalties) while a month later it was a goalless draw in Premier League at Stamford Bridge. Arsenal have just one win in the last 12 league meetings between the teams (1-4-7), with last season's 3-0 rout accounting for the victory.
Arsenal will assess Mesut Ozil ahead of this clash, with the German international suffering a minor knee problem. Should he miss out, Alex Iwobi is the most likely to start in the front three alongside Alexandre Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez. Sead Kolasinac was taken off in the game at Hawthorns and is expected to sit out, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles set to step in for a recall. Arsene Wenger has options to add fresh legs to his midfield, with Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny both available and pushing to replace Granit Xhaka and Jack Wilshere. Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud remain sidelined.
Chelsea enter this clash in decent form having won four of their last five games and have also kept clean sheets in four consecutive matches. They share the lead with Manchester City and United in the clean sheets table with 11 this season and have been beaten only once in 13 league matches (W10-D2-L1) of late. The Blues beat Brighton 2-0 and hammered Stoke City 5-0 in the last tow fixtures of 2017, both at home. They sit 3rd in the Premier League table at the moment, but could leapfrog Manchester UTD by claiming all three points here. Antonio Conte's men have won only one of their last four league visits to Arsenal
Antonio Conte is set to make a raft of changes due to the hectic schedule. Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas look certain to return, while Tiémoué Bakayoko could also factor in midfield. In defense, Andreas Christensen has recovered from illness and should replace Antonio Rudiger, forming the three man backline with Cesar azpilicueta and Gary Cahill. Davide Zappacosta could also earn a start ahead of Victor Moses at right wing-back. Alvaro Morata will spearhead the attack, with Pedro and Willian expected to play in the 2nd half. The likes of David Luiz and Charly Musonda are both ruled out for the visitors.
