Tour De France Stage 10 predictions, betting tips, odds and free bets (July 11, 2017)

TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 10 BETTING PREVIEW 

The hard STAGE 10 from Nantua to Chambery claimed no fewer than 12 riders, a number of whom missed the time cut. Among that group was Arnaud Demare, who was sitting second in the points classification. The like of Matteo Trentin, Juraj Sagan, Mark Renshaw, Mickaël Delage, Ignatas Konovalovas and Jacopo Guarnieri also missed the time cut.

Two categorized climbs are included along the Tour De France Stage 10  (a 178km route from Perigueux to Bergerac), both of which are only Category 4 ascents and shouldn't challenge the "fast wheels" or too much. Furthermore, there are 40 kilometers from the second climb to the finish line. So there is plenty of time for the sprint teams to take control and launch their rockets.

Anyway, the last time the Tour de France visited Bergerac was in 2014. In theory, that stage was perfect for a bunch sprint, but in reality Ramunas Navardauskas powered to victory after a late attack. Positioning heading into the final kilometer will be key as the finale is quite technical.

Marcel Kittel is odds on favourite to record his fourth stage win of the Tour in Bergerac. He has been the dominant sprinter in the field with 3 wins – including the narrowest win in Tour history on Friday.

With no Demare in the race, Cavendish and Sagan already out of the Tour, Andre Greipel is rated as Kittel’s closest challenger for stage 10 on Tuesday. He has been inconsistent so far but we expect the German sprinter to deliver a strong performance sooner or later.





Michael Matthews is looking better and better the longer the race goes on. He finished third in Stage 7 and was in the breakaway on STAGE 10 in order to win the intermediate sprint. He could pay for the effort, altough the rest day.

Edvald Boasson-Hagen was surprisingly very close to his first Tour stage win for a number of years on Friday, struggling to beat Kittel only because of the photofinish.

Cofidis’ Nacer Bouhanni is another rider to keep an eye on, despite he is yet to finish on the podium thus far as well as Dylan Groenewegen who lacks of experience in this kind of bunch sprints.

Alexander Kristoff is managing to get a number of 4th and 5th places in sprints and looks ready for a podium finish as other conteders will miss the stage because of crashed or time cut.

Few other riders can aspire to earn a top 3 placement. Sonny Colbrelli has been hampered by poor positioning in the last two sprint finishes and could be the surprise package should he find himself in a good position. John Degenkolb was not taking part in bunch sprint but finished 5th on Friday and could be incentivated by the retirement of many other sprinters.

Very few chances for other riders such as Rudiger Selig, Adrien Petit, Daniele Bennati, Dan McLay, Davide Cimolai and Ben Swift.
