The Glenfarcas Cross Country Handicap Chase is really popular race amongst punters since being introduced to the Cheltenham Festival in 2005. It is a great spectacle, very different to the other races at the festival. The contest is a Cross Country chase covering three miles and seven furlongs, for horses aged five years and upwards, with a prize purse of £65,000. The race is a stamina test for the horses and also a mental test, with many different types of fences to jump.

This is also a test for jockeys, who have to be aware and know the route they have to take.

Who will win the Country Chase 2021?We'll take a closer look at this year's Glenfarclas Country Chase and try to determine which horse is likely to prevail in this race.

romped to a 17l victory over two-time race winner Tiger Roll in last year’s renewal. He  has only had one run this season at Cheltenham back in November when he was no match for Kingswell Theatre in a handicap. Then he has been laid out for another tilt over these fences

TIGER ROLL is a dual Grand National hero and four-time winner at this meeting. He was well beaten in this race last term by Easysland when the ground was on the soft side for him and pulled-up at Navan when last seen. There will be no attempt to win a third successive Grand National next month, due to Michael O’Leary’s decision to withdraw his horse over what he feels is an unfair handicap.

SOME NECK finished third at Punchestown and recorded an impressive victory at Cheltenham in December. Despite being unexperienced, he has shownan aptitude for this discipline and could be in the mix.

POTTERS CORNER, the 2019 Welsh Grand National winner, made an encouraging debut in this sphere when third at Cheltenham in November.  In that race he was only two lengths ahead of a below-par Easysland while in receipt of 21lb. A warm up at Warwick looked good but his run at Exeter behind Brinkley on Valentine’s Day was so disappointing.

SHADY OPERATOR goes into the Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham with a little bit of form, having won the P.P. Hogan Memorial Cross Country Chase at Punchestown back in February.

BALKO DES FLOS has been beaten out of sight in his two most recent starts while LE BREUIL, who stays and jumps well, will bid for his second Cheltenham Festival crown.

ALPHA DES OBEAUX has an entry here. He is a classy horse and should not ruled out for a top 3 finish.

At the moment, the most backed horses are the following:
