England vs Senegal Betting Preview

England enter this clash on the back of an unconvincing 1-0 victory over minnows Andorra - ranked 173rd in the world - in their 2026 World Cup qualifying match on Saturday. Harry Kane's 50th-minute goal secured the points but there was not much else to excite England travelling fans. Prior to that, the Three Lions recorded a 2-0 win over Albania with a 3-0 victory against Latvia to take maximum points from their first two World Cup qualifiers. They won all of their last five matches with a combined aggregate score of 14-0.

Senegal drew 1-1 with Republic of Ireland last Friday and are unbeaten in their last 23 matches (W16, D7). They have won just two of their last five matches – against Liberia and Togo. Recent draws to Sudan and Liberia show that the Lions of Teranga can be inconsistent at times though. Anyway, they are unbeaten in six World Cup qualifiers, winning three and drawing three, while also preparing for the 2025/26 African Cup of Nations. In June 2023, Senegal faced Brazil in a Lisbon friendly in June 2023, and won 4-2

England have never lost in 21 matches against African opposition (W15 D6), which included a 3-0 win over Senegal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in their only previous meeting with the Lions of Teranga.

Best Odds

England are clearly odds-on favourites to see off the African nation. Thomas Tuchel's men are 9/20 to win with Bet365, or 1.48 with non-UK bookies.

Senegal can be backed at 13/2 (with Unibet) with the draw currently available at 18/5 (or 4.65).

Probable Line-Ups

England (4-2-3-1): D Henderson; Alexander-Arnold, Chalobah, Colwill, Lewis-Skelly; Rice, Gibbs-White; Saka, Eze, Gordon; Kane

Thomas Tuchel will again be without Ollie Watkins, who withdrew from the squad before the win over Andorra through injury. The German manager expects to have Bukayo Saka fit after a minor fitness issue kept him out over the weekend. Anyway, Morgan Gibbs-White could play alongside Anthony Gordon and Eberechi Eze as offensive midfielder behind the lone striker Harry Kane. Tuchel confirmed that a much changed team could be named on Tuesday, meaning that the likes of Declan Rice, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Trent Alexander-Arnold are also likely to feature from the off. The England boss could also present Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah with the chance to make his first international appearance.

Senegal (4-2-3-1): E. Mendy; A. Mendy, Koulibaly, Niakhate, Jakobs; L. Camara, I. Gueye; I. Sarr, Diatta, I. Ndiaye; Jackson.

Sadio Mane has been left out of the squad due to personal reasons. Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr misses out but several first-choice players could return to the starting XI. Premier League contingent Idrissa Gueye, Sarr, Iliman Ndiaye and Nicolas Jackson are among the players in line to start. Former Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly and Moussa Niakhate will be paired at the heart of the back, with Arial Mendy and Ismail Jakobs starting as full backs.

Our England vs Senegal Predictions

England are still in the early stages of their new era under Tuchel, and the German manager has been left frustrated after their disappointing display in Saturday's narrow win over Andorra. The Three Lions will face a much tougher test this time around and should not underestimate their opponents.

Senegal are a top-20 team in the Fifa rankings, 15 places below England in 19th, and enter this clash boasting a 23-match unbeaten streak. They have gone 25 matches without conceding more than one goal in a single game.

We believe the Lions of Teranga will frustrate England and also find the back of the net against a much-changed backline.

As a result, we back Senegal +2 in the Handicap market and 1-1 in the Correct Score market.

"Both teams to score" also looks well-priced while "Senegal over 2.5 shots on target" and "Eberechi Eze over 0.5 shots on target" complete our set of predictions.
