MARIBOR vs LIVERPOOL BETTING PREVIEW
Maribor haven't lost at home since May and conceded only four goals in those 10 matches, but they were dispatched 3-0 by a ruthless Sevilla last time out in Spain after opening with a draw at home to Spartak Moscow. Prior to that, they won their play-off tie against Hapoel Be’er Sheva with a 1-0 home triumph. This means they have a W1 D4 record in their last five home games in Europe. Maribor have hosted English opposition four times previously, winning once, losing once and drawing twice.For the hosts, Denis Sme misses this one whilst Marko Suler picked up an ankle injury against Gorica last month and will miss out. Luka Zahovic and Dare Vrsic, who both missed out against Sevilla, are fit again and available for selection here. Marcos Tavares is expected to lead the line, while Damjan Boha, Luka Zahovic and Gregor Bajde will start as offensive midfielders in a 4-2-3-1 system.
Liverpool have collected just two points from their opening two games, after drawing 1-1 against Spartak Moscow in Russia and a 2-2 against Sevilla at ANfield Road. The Reds have looked vulnerable defensively this season and have kept only one clean sheet in their last eight competitive fixtures. Anyway, the clean sheet against Manchester UTD at the weekend could have boosted their confidence in defense. They have now won only one of their last eight competitive fixtures and have not recorded a victory at Anfield since the 4-0 demolition of Arsenal on August 27.
Jurgen Klopp may look to rotate his squad, particularly as his club are in the midst of a tricky run of fixtures. Loris Karius will return between the sticks after being selected as Liverpool's goalkeeper for the Champions League. Up front, Roberto Firmino is likely to be partnered again by Philippe Coutinho and Mo Salah. No changes are expected in midfield where Emre Can, Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum will retain their starting berth. In defense, Trent Alexander-Arnold could replace Joe Gomez at right back. Sadio Manè, Adam Lallana, Adam Bogdan and Nathaniel Clyne are all out.
