Manchester City v Leicester betting preview

City have won 17 of their 18 home league matches this season, outscoring their opponents by 44 goals

Manchester City were able to get a narrow 1-0 win at Burnley last weekend and remain in the driving seat to retain the title and become the first English top-flight side in a decade to do so. Pep Guardiola's side have remarkably won their last 12 league matches. They have kept a clean sheet in 5 of their last 7 home matches. Crystal Palace are the only Premier League visitors to have avoided defeat at the Etihad this term, winning 3-2 just before Christmas. As to direct encounters, The Citizens have won only three of their last nine matches against Leicester.

Key midfielder Fernandinho is a major fitness doubt because of a knee injury and Kevin De Bruyne (muscle) remains out. There also remain question marks over the fitness of Benjamin Mendy, meanwhile, so Oleksandr Zinchenko should continue to operate at left-back. The likes of Kyle Walker, John Stones and Aymeric Laporte will complete the back four. Bernardo Silva would be free to move back to the front three if Fernandinho is passed fit, allowing Leroy Sane or Riyad Mahrez joining Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling in attack.

Leicester are looking to catch Wolves in seventh place

Leicester have been in strong recent form. Since Claude Puel was sacked, they have won six of nine games, including a mightily impressive 3-0 demolition job on Arsenal last weekend. Coming into the penultimate round of fixtures Brendan Rodgers' men were in eighth place, 3 points behind Wolves (who beat Fulham on Saturday). The Foxes’ counterattacking style of play will pose problems for City’s less agile central defensive pairing. The Foxes can boast a good head-to-head record with the Citizens in recent times as they’re an even W3-D3-L3 in all competitions since 2015/16. The two clashes this season have seen Leicester take them to penalties in the Carabao Cup and beat them 2-1 in the league.

Rodgers has no fresh injury concerns, meaning that he is without only Daniel Amartey and Matty James. Jamie Vardy, who has scored 10 goals in their nine games since the departure of Puel, will spearhead the attack. Wilfred Ndidi will anchor the midfield, while the likes of James Maddison, Hamza Choudhury, Youri Tielemans and Marc Albrighton will support the lone striker. Harvey Barnes and Demarai Gray provide further alternatives. Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans are likely to start at centre-half, flanked by Ricardo Pereira and Ben Chilwell. Danny Simpson, Christian Fuchs, Rachid Ghezzal, Kelechi Iheanacho and Shinji Okazaki - without a league start between them since Rodgers' appointment - look unlikely to challenge for a place in the starting XI.
