MANCHESTER CITY v SUNDERLAND BETTING PREVIEW

Manchester City’s pre-season campaign was a bit unconvincing. They suffered defeats against Bayern Munich and Arsenal and drew against Borussia Dortmund 1-1. Man City have strengthened impressively in the transfer market with the signings of Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito, Oleksandr Zinchenko,  Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus (will join in January 2017) and John Stones.

Captain Vincent Kompany and new signing Ikay Gundogan are both expected to miss out while Kevin De Bruyne will start on bench due to lack of fitness. Leroy Sane also is expected to miss the match having not trained with the first-team squad. Nolito and Raheem Sterling perhaps the most likely to start either side of lone striker Sergio Aguero. Yaya Toure has barely featured during pre-season and is likely to be benched. Bacary Sagna has only recently returned following his Euro 2016 exertions, so Pablo Zabaleta may get the nod at right-back, with either Gael Clichy or Kolarov covering at left-back.



Sam Allardyce, who guided the Black Cats to survival last season has been appointed as the new England manager and David Moyes has been brought in as his replacement at the Stadium of Light. Pre-season has gone fairly well for Sunderland under Moyes, with them beating Hartlepool, Rotherham, Stade Nyonnais, and Dijon before draws against Montpellier and Borussia Dortmund.

Jermain Defoe is expected to make a full recovery before the kick-off. Lee Cattermole, Jan Kirchhoff and Billy Jones are all sidelined while Sebastian Larsson has been ruled out for six months. Adnan Januzaj, McNair and Love are all in the squad after completing moves from Manchester United. Fabio Borini and Wahbi Khazri are expected to occupy two of the advanced midfield positions in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with the final spot looking to be a battle between Jeremain Lens and Adnan Januzaj. 

Man City have won 11 of their last 13 home matches against Sunderland in all competitions. The Citizens thrashed the Black Cats 4-1 and 1-0 in the two league clashes last year and have scored at least 3 goals in 7 of their last 8 home matches against Sunderland in all competitions.
