LIVERPOOL v PLYMOUTH BETTING PREVIEW
Liverpool’s Premier League title ambitions took a hit on Monday as they recorded a 2-2 draw against Sunderland. Anyway, they are lying second in the league, 5 points shy of Chelsea, and possibly benefiting from not playing in Europe. Jurgen Klopp's men are unbeaten at home this season and have won nine of those 11 games. Last term a much changed side drew 2-2 at Exeter in the third round of the FA Cup before winning the replay 3-0 at Anfield. In the 4th round the Reds drew with West Ham at Anfield and then lost the replay in London.Jurgen Klopp will name a bunch of fringe players and youngsters for this one. Popular youngsters Ovie Ejaria and Trent Alexander-Arnold are set for run outs as well as reserve men Alberto Moreno and Kevin Stewart. Loris Karius is expected to start between the posts, while Joe Gomez could make his long-awaited return to first-team action - 15 months after he last featured against FC Sion. Divock Origi is likely to play as central striker with Sheyi Ojo and Ben Woodburn on his flanks. Sadio Mane is away with Senegal on international duty for the Africa Cup of Nations and won't be available for the next month. Daniel Sturridge, James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Joel Matip, and Phillipe Coutinho are all doubts ahead of this one.
Plymouth's unbeaten streak ended on Monday with a 1-0 defeat at Barnet, leaving them 2nd in the League Two table with a point between them and leaders Doncaster Rovers. They have won 10 of their 16 away matches in all competitions this season, losing the other six. They required a replay and extra time against bottom club Newport to reach this stage. Prior to that, they won 2-1 at Mansfield in the first round.
Gary Sawyer, Ryan Brunt, David Iljaha and Jimmy Spencer are all expected to miss out on Sunday, while Ryan Donaldson could recover in time. Jordan Slew should spearhead the attack in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Graham Carey and Jake Jervis are likely to retain their berth as offensive midfielders.
