LIVERPOOL v MANCHESTER CITY BETTING PREVIEW

Liverpool overcame a slight scare at home to Stoke to run out comfortable 4-1 winners in the end on Tuesday night. They are unbeaten in the last 16 matches in all competitions and currently sit 2nd in the Premier League standings, 6 points behind Chelsea and 1 point above Man City. The Reds boast the best attack of the league, with 45 goals scored in 18 games in the top-flight so far. Furthermore, the Merseysiders are undefeated in their last 15 home matches against Man City in all competitions.

Jurgen Klopp has revealed Joel Matip will miss the match, as he joined Philippe Coutinho on the sidelines. agnar Klavan should start in an unchanged back four alongside Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren and James Milner, then, while Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana appear to be certain starters in midfield. Emre Can and Daniel Sturridge are vying for recalls to the starting XI and may be selected ahead of Georginio Wijnaldum and Divock Origi, respectively.

After two consecutive defeats earlier this month - 1-3 at home against Chelsea and 4:2 at Leicester - Manchester City have opened a 3-match winning streak to cement their 3rd place in the Premier League table. Since December 14, the Citizens have beaten 2:0 Watford and 2:1 Arsenal both at home and defeated Hull City 3:0 last time out. They have been impressive on their travels this season, winning seven of their nine league games away from the Etihad Stadium.

John Stones was off at Hull with a knee problem but he is expected to be available here. Anyway, Aleksandar Kolarov should partner Nicolas Otamendi at the heart of the defense. Pep Guardiola may look to start with both Fernandinho and Fernando in front of the back four in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Yaya Toure possibly missing out. Sergio Aguero  has served his four-match ban and will spearhead the attack David Silva, Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne filling the offensive midfielders positions.
