CHELSEA v EVERTON BETTING PREVIEW
Chelsea ended their two-match losing streak with a 4-2 triumph over Watford, showing character as they came from 2-1 down. Prior to that, the Blues suffered a disappointing defeat at rock-bottom Crystal Palace and salvaged a draw at home to Roma (3-3) in Champions League. Antonio Conte's men have climbed to fourth place in the Premier League standings but there are concerns about their defensive solidity - the Blues have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last five matches. As for direct matches, Chelsea have won their last three meetings with the Toffees without conceding.
Manager Antonio Conte is likely to give minutes to some backups players such as Michy Batshuayi, Charly Musonda and Kenedy. The Italian manager has few options in central midfield as Tiemouè Bakayoko and Cesc Fabregas are the only available players for that position. Eden Hazard and Pedro are likely to be rested, meaning that William will be given a rare start. Daniel Drinkwater, Victor Moses and N'Golo Kante are all sidelined.
Everton enter this match on the back of a humiliating 5-2 defeat against Arsenal on Sunday and manager Ronald Koeman has been sacked following the disastrous start to the season. That was their 2nd consecutive loss, as they are now win-less in their last 5 matches in all competitions (0-2-3). The Toffees are currently positioned inside the relegation zone, in 18th place, having only managed to attain eight points from their opening nine Premier League games of the new season. Their defense has been abysmal this season, conceding three goals against Tottenham, four against Man UTD and five against Arsenal this season. In the previous EFL Cup round the Toffees cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over Championship strugglers Sunderland at Goodison Park.
Everton's interim head coach David Unsworth could make wholesale changes to his side. Midfielder Idrissa Gueye is suspended due to his red card against Arsenal while Morgan Schneiderlin and James McCarthy are major doubts. Fringe players such as Ademola Lookman, Mo Besic and Cuco Martina are expected to feature from the off while Wayne Rooney, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are likely to retain their starting berth. The Likes of Ross Barkley, Yannick Bolasie, Ramiro Funes Mori and Seamus Coleman are the long-term absentees.
